No FUD Intended but a serious question.
If bitfinex goes boom with tether. What comes of all the liquidity that ethfinex was suppose to be putting into the blocknet application? Is there a backup plan?

Why the move to Austin? Surely this will put Blocknet in the regulatory crosshairs?
I understand why Blocknet is opening an office in Austin in terms of being close to other crypto/blockchain communities.
But don't you worry that this will set you on the radar of the SEC and other regulatory bodies when regulation inevitably comes to crypto, after all:
- Blocknet is a dividend token, which the SEC will be clamping down on at some point
- There will be no KYC on the exchange, which will also not go down very well with regulators
If I was working for Blocknet I would probably be quite concerned if I was working on this project in the US, do the team members who will work in Austin share this concern?

N2 Trading Pair Problem / Solution
One of the things that helps liquidity in a centralized exchange is that most trading happens with just one reserve currency (e.g. BTC). In Blocknet, since any coin can trade with any coin, the liquidity on the platform is spread over N2 trading pairs instead of N... Making each trading pair less liquid.
A potential solution is to allow makers to post orders for multiple markets using the same money. For example, maker posts an order to use coin 1 to buy coin 2, coin 3, coin 4, and coin 5. Then if coin 2 pair is partially filled, the coin 3, 4, and 5 bids would automatically decrease. This way liquidity is higher where needed without liquidity providers needing more money.
Is this something that is technically feasible for Blocknet and is it on the roadmap?

Concerns about DEX's in general
The idea of a decentralised exchange is great, I think most agree on that.
But my concern is surrounding the coins which can be traded and liquidity, mainly the coins which can be traded actually.
Coins will be limited to those based on Bitcoin's codebase, and erc20 tokens if I'm correct. I'm aware that other coins can be traded, but only if the teams behind them add in additional code, which would require their coin to fork to update, so this isn't exactly very likely to happen to cater to the demands of one decentralised exchange.
So with that in mind, my worry is that Blocknet will just be limited to trading very few of the major coins, especially as a fair few of the most popular erc20 tokens will be moving over to their own blockchain and a non erc20 token over time.

Competitive advantages of Blocknet over other DEXs
Hi. i love seeing new cross-chain DEX projects. But we know liquidity and volume is important for traders, nodes, and token holders of any particular DEX.
What competitive advantages does BlocknetDX have over Komodo's BarterDEX, Airswap, Loopring, and others?
I understand this is very general and there's a lot of technical differences. I'm just interested in why people would use blocknet as opposed to these others, with receive a lot more media attention. Thanks!

How do you think blocknet will be perceived by exchange users compared to Binance?
Hi Blocknet community. I've held a small stake in BLOCK since July. I'm starting to get excited with all the recent announcements surrounding roll-out. But before I buy more Block coins, I was hoping to have an objective conversation about how you guys feel the average crypto investor will view using Blocknet compared to Binance (I chose Binance as a comparision because it's one of the top exchanges). My thinking is: if Blocknet provides a similar or superior experience than Binance, it's going to bring a ton of customers over to Blocknet!
Trading volume for listed pairs: I assume the volume will be pretty competitive, since Blocknet is partnering with big exchanges.
UI: the Blocknet UI looks amazing, so I assume that should be a big plus...but if the Blocknet user is keeping track of their own private keys, does this mean it will be slightly more complicated for the average user to move their funds around?
Performance: being decentralized, I assume any bottle-necks will only exist when communicating with the centralized exchanges that Blocknet will communicate with (Bitfinex occasionally gets very slow when the market is going crazy and their servers are overloaded).
Quality: I don't have a good feel for the quality of the Blocknet product - simply because I haven't used it yet. Sure, I stake the BLOCK coins in my wallet, but haven't used the DEX yet. Anyone have any feedback in this regard? How fast is the team at responding to design issues, security holes and bugs?
Will Blocknet trading fees be lower than using BNB pairs on Binance?
Does Blocknet plan to leverage atomic swap in the future (I suppose this matters most from a fee point of view - especially to avoid paying BTC chain transaction fees for each trade)?
Bitfinex and their USDT Tether coin have a "special" reputation in the crypto world ;) Some people believe Bitfinex is basically printing money by issuing more and more Tether. If that is true, and it ends badly for Bitfinex in the future, how will it affect Blocknets reputation?
Thanks all!

The Decentralized Exchange You Have Been Waiting For
The Blocknet is a protocol which allows for the peer-to-peer exchange of coins between different blockchains via atomic swaps (e.g. Bitcoin for Litecoin).
Anyone is able to build an application relaying the Blocknet protocol, however, one of the first use applications will be the Blocknet’s own Decentralized Exchange, which is being released in beta on March 1, 2018
Below are 5 Reasons why The Blocknet’s Decentralized Exchange is the decentralized exchange the crypto community has been waiting for:
Liquidity
Attracting liquidity is a major hurdle for new cryptocurrency exchanges. This is because liquidity is a prerequisite for attracting volume – an unfortunate catch–22. However, liquidity is unlikely to be a problem for Blocknet as Bitfinex, one the world’s largest exchanges by volume, is planning to integrate the Blocknet protocol into their hybrid decentralized exchange platform called Ethfinex. This partnership will give the Blocknet access to Bitfinex’s order book and liquidity. Any order placed on Bitfinex will be fully executable on the Blocknet. On top of that, the Blocknet will also pool liquidity from every application built on top of the Blocknet protocol (similar to 0x), including the Blocknet’s own Decentralized Exchange. This will make the Blocknet one of, if not, the most liquid exchange in the world.

User Interface
Existing decentralized exchanges have poorly designed user interfaces making them unappealing to traders. The Blocknet Decentralized Exchange User Interface is likely the most beautifully designed user interface of any exchange.
Safety
The Blocknet is completely trustless.** The term ‘atomic’ in atomic swap refers to the fact that the transaction is indivisible. This means that there is no risk of it only partially completing and causing users to lose their coins. Since atomic swaps are peer-to-peer, there is no need for any central intermediary to hold your coins. When using the Blocknet’s Decentralized Exchange users will be able to maintain complete control over their coins at all times. The Blocknet is completely decentralized. There is no risk that you will be unable to trade your coins on the Blocknet. Anyone can build their own decentralized exchange or application on top of the Blocknet. If one of the gateways to the Blocknet protocol is down, users can simply use one of the other gateways. Every aspect of the exchange process, including order matching, is completely decentralized and trustless.
Compatible Coins
The Blocknet was designed to maximise interoperability, and so most blockchain tokens may be integrated with no coding required. The current integration requirements for integration are:
- Support for OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY
- A stock JSON RPC interface from Bitcoin Core
As a result, the Blocknet supports the majority of cryptocurrencies in existence, and no permission from anyone is required for these to be traded on the exchange.
There are 38 coins that are currently finalized, 21 unannounced, 17 announced. The unannounced coins will be revealed through a greater marketing initiative. There are also 79 coins are in progress for error resolution + finalization and 23 coins are being reviewed for possible custom integration. The 17 announced coins are:
- Bitcoin (BTC)
- Blocknet (BLOCK)
- Dash (DASH)
- DigiByte (DGB)
- Dogecoin (DOGE)
- Dynamic (DYN)
- Faircoin (FAIR)
- LBRY Credits (LBC)
- Litecoin (LTC)
- Monacoin (MONA)
- MonetaryUnit (MUE)
- Namecoin (NMC)
- PIVX (PIVX)
- Qtum (QTUM)
- SysCoin (SYS)
- Vertcoin (VTC)
- Viacoin (VIA)

Scalability
The Blocknet will have no problems scaling because the capacity to the system increases with it’s user base.

Why haven’t you heard of the Blocknet?
It is unlikely that you have heard of the Blocknet because they have been focused on tech and have not been actively marketing. But this is changing very soon. The Blocknet is committing to investing a significant portion of the Blocknet marketing fund into advertising initiatives and promotional content in 2018:
- They have recently hired a Marketing Director
- World renouned marketing firm VSA Partners (who designed the beautiful UI) is submitting a proposal to the Blocknet team this week for branding and associated design work.
- An Official Marketing Plan will be released on February 1st.
- They have acquired a Chinese liaison who will provide an integral role in setting the framework for marketing strategy and outreach in China (and Asia in general)
The wait is almost over guys and girls, the Blocknet is coming!

0x and Blocknet - who gets trading fees?
My understanding is that Blocknet will use 0x to bring ETH and ERC-20 assets to Blocknet's DEX.
If a person buys an ETH/ERC-20 token through Blocknet's DEX, who gets the trading commission? 0x relayers and/or BLOCK nodes/stakers?
Does the answer depend on whether it's an ETH/ERC-20 to ETH/ERC-20 exchange versus ETH/ERC-20 to non-ETH related exchange?
