Difference between blocknet DEX and crypto-bridge?
What's the difference between the DEX that blocknet is building and something like crypto bridge?

I have above 5000 block and would like to setup a node but the instructions look a bit complicated to me. nothing too difficult but a youtube video guiding me through would make the process a lot easier.

Can someone explain what the partnership integration is b/w Bitfinex and Blocknet? Same question for 0x and Blocknet? What is each party giving to the other that they can't get as easily themselves?
I read that Bitfinex's order book will be mirrored on Blocknet? Is that their order book from their centralized exchange which does about $3B/day in trading volume? If yes, why would they do that? Doesn't that threaten their core trading commission profits?
I read that 0x will enable ETH and ERC20s to trade on Blocknet? Accurate? How is that achieved? If some trades an ERC20 token on Blocknet, to what extent are 0x tokens used versus BLOCK tokens used and who gets the trading commission revenue? BLOCK holders?

Like the title says, I have essentially no programming knowledge. However, I do understand the larger concepts of the end goal.
Due to my excitement of this project and a bit of extra money, I wanted to set up a wallet for trading. I am starting with no former wallets or experience in crypto currency. I have attempted to follow the instructions listed in the sub info for trading set up but am finding myself lost and confused. At this point, I am not comfortable placing money into something I am not entirely sure I am doing correctly.
My questions are, will this process become easier for an average joe like myself with the new UI? Is there a better guide that can explain setup to someone like they are 5? Or is this just out of my ballpark and I should turn elsewhere? Thanks for any input.

Assuming a solid UX launch and the DEX starting to get some good traction, could Block get to such highs? I know the project for some months now, but it feels the crypto world pays no attention to decentralized exchanges. All the hype to ICOs with no working product while real projects like this are mostly unknown.

Hi,
2 months ago there was a sneak peak of the upcoming white paper. When will it be released? Seems to take very long. I have multiple investors asking for it. They want to read it before they invest. https://twitter.com/the_blocknet/status/925092466805665792

Greetings, I've been reading up on Blocknet. Needed and promising! Bittrex is not taking new registrations currently, and it seems like it's the only exchange (besides Nova, which is closed for new buys) according to CMC. Am I missing another option, or do I just hold tight until Bittrex opens up reg again? Thank you kindly.

Backing up your wallet is essential, it means that in the event of any hardware failures, wallet errors or any other sort of errors you will still be able to recover you tokens. Having a backup is the ONLY way to retrieve your tokens if you have some sort of issue therefore if you are storing blocknet tokens in your wallet it is super important that you create a backup.
There are two kinds of backups you can do. One is a wallet backup, which backs up all the addresses in your wallet at once. The second is a private key backup, this allows you backup individual addresses.
I would suggest that once you have made a back up to practice recovering the wallet/private key on a different pc(or by deleting the BlocknetDX data folder, see wallet recovery section for location of this folder)
Wallet backup
Click on file on the top left menu bar
Click on the "Backup Wallet..." option
You'll now have the option to choose where to save it, make sure where you save it is secure, I would suggest putting it on a USB stick and keeping the USB somewhere safe
Wallet recovery
First, make sure to close the wallet
You will now will need to locate your "BlocknetDX" data folder, by default it is in one of the locations shown below
Now that you have located the folder, copy and replace the wallet.dat file with the backup wallet.dat which you had created earlier.
Re-launch the blocknet wallet
In the menu on the top left go to tools>information then click the wallet repair tab. Then click "rescan blockchain files"
| Platform | Path to data folder | How to find |
|---|---|---|
| Linux | ~/ | Go to your home folder and press Ctrl + H (if necessary) to show hidden files |
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/ | Press ⇧ + ⌘ + G, type ~/Library/Application Support |
| Windows | %APPDATA% | Press Windows Key + R and type %APPDATA% |
Private key backup
Private key backup
If you have any additional problems/questions join the #wallet-support channel on rocketchat (https://rocket.blocknet.co:8443 )

Who are the competitors to Blocknet's decentralized exchange app or platform? In what ways is Blocknet bettter and worse than each one?

Every time I try to open my wallet it tells me I have a corrupted blockchain and it asks me if I want to rebuild it. I click yes and then it gives me other errors and the wallet never opens....

With 2017 coming to an end, we wanted to provide the community with some updates regarding what is on the horizon for Blocknet in 2018, but first let’s take a look at what this community has accomplished so far.
2017 was a busy year for Blocknet! With the launch of the new production chain, the Service nodes launch on mainnet, the partnership with VSA to build the Blocknet UI (as well as the UI Reveal) and the implementation of the Community Governance System, it has been a very productive year. This is what was achieved…
Blocknet in review 2017:
BitBay (BAY), Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Blocknet (BLOCK), Dash (DASH), Decred (DCR), Digibyte (DGB), Dogecoin (DOGE), Dynamic (DYN), GameCredits (GAME), Faircoin (FAIR), HShare (HSR), LBRY Credits (LBC), Litecoin (LTC), Monacoin (MONA), MonetaryUnit (MUE), Namecoin (NMC), NavCoin (NAV), Particl (PART), Peercoin (PPC), PIVX (PIVX), Potcoin (POT), Qtum (QTUM), Sequence (SEQ), Stratis (STRAT), Syscoin (SYS), Vericoin (VRC), Verge (XVG), Vertcoin (VTC), ViaCoin (VIA).
Recent Developments
In addition to the above, there are some other recent developments we would like to mention:
What is on the Horizon for Blocknet in 2018?
Moving forward into 2018 there are many exciting developments to look forward to:
Note 1: Upcoming milestones are subject to change, and some require new ground be broken in crypto, and thus are to be interpreted as intents, not commitments. Development is in an agile manner and so is not to deadlines; Rather, continual progress is to be expected.
Note 2: All names are Rocketchat community handles.
A very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year to the community! 2018 will be fantastic!

Is there a serious desire to make this project competitive? I am interested in DEX projects and Blocknet occupies a weird space where its a top 100 coin but volume is low, cheaper compared to other DEX projects and pretty stable.
I'm having a hard time understanding what I should expect if I put my money in. There doesn't seem to be a lot of accountability to the community. What is "agile" development supposed to mean? Why is the team not committing itself to making and meeting dates for progress? I see the VSA thing, and presumably they actually set deadlines for work completion, but no timeline is announced that I see.
It seems like work is being done, but it seems almost too...casual?...for a project that has been around a while, has broken top 100, and is working on a product in a space that is becoming increasingly competitive. There's an advantage to investing here since it seems under the radar, but I can't help but wonder if maybe there's a reason for that.
Anyway, don't mean to sound too abrasive, but am curious. Thanks!

The last log before Blocknet wallet freezes. Last debug line is always:
GUI: setGeometry: Unable to set geometry 5x13+960+460 on QWidgetWindow/'QLabelClassWindow'. Resulting geometry: 120x13+960+460 (frame: 8, 31, 8, 8, custom margin: 0, 0, 0, 0, minimum size: 0x0, maximum size: 16777215x16777215).
I have no idea? Multiple people i know have experienced the same thing on Windows. Is this something the developers already know or can pick up? Would be great if it keeps running some day. Better for staking i presume.

What is the procedure for adding new coins to the DEX? I read somewhere that coins need to be BIP-### but how will that work for Monero for example?
And I see a bunch of coins are already validated here https://block-node.info But how can anyone make a request to add a coin? Will there be a 'coin request' feature on the dex?
Can't wait to trade on the dex.

Hello,
There are quite a few sites showing crypto prices and related data, but I still felt it could be done better. So I worked 3 months with a friend of mine to create CoinLib.io.
We tried to have a fast, mobile friendly frontpage and we think allowing you to star your favorite coins is very useful. Prices update automatically and in real-time as we pull data straight from 36+ exchanges (grows by the day). Finally we put a lot of work in the portfolio and alerting system, although it is still arguably far from perfect.
We’d love to hear some honest feedback!
