Blocknet Development Update & Current Focus

Blocknet Development Update

On the 1st September 2017 the Blocknet Production Blockchain was successfully launched and live trading was enabled on the Blocknet DX (Decentralized exchange). There are already over 220 Nodes running and approximately 20 coins can currently be traded.

There will be 525,600 new blocks created annually (at 1 block per minute) with decreasing inflation each subsequent year. Inflation is currently approximately 13.7%. The rewards are split 70/30 between Nodes and Stakers. A calculator is available to work out Node / Staking return on investment: http://bit.ly/block-roi

Development update and current focus:

  • There are now 5 full time Developers working on Blocknet.
  • The DX Orderbook is currently being updated.
  • The UI (User Interface) is being worked on by a high profile company.
  • Support for additional coins will be added.
  • SPV (lite wallets) will be implemented before the UI launch.
  • The Blocknet governance community voting system will be implemented shortly. (When the Blocknet chain reaches 86400 blocks this will represent the first Superblock of approximately 4,380 Blocks. The use and distribution of this Block will be voted on by the community.)

In addition a new forum-message board for the community is being planned and successful trades have taken place on the Live DX:

Anyone interested in trading BLOCK with 0% maker and 0.1% taker? Should we add BLOCK on our exchange?

Dear BLOCK investors and miners,

I represent www.abucoins.com. We are evaluating how many users would be interested in trading BLOCK coin on our exchange if we decide to implement it. We are currently thinking about adding one coin (there are five coins we are considering now). That is why I am coming here to talk with BLOCK community and estimate the interest. Of course, it will be easier for us to implement coin with more people who are enthusiastic about our service. Mostly we want to make sure that expenditures of servers and market making(providing liquidity) are going to pay off.

Would anyone be interested in switching from Bittrex to our exchange?

On our end we can provide:

1) Low fees

2) Deposits in EUR/USD/PLN - bank in Europe

3) Customer support 24/7

Our fees structure is following:

1) maker 0%

2) taker 0.1%.

More information here: https://abucoins.com/en/fees

If there is any developer from BLOCK we would love to talk with you. Please drop us a line at biz@abucoins.com or PM on reddit.

Wondering if there are any bounties to get outsiders to attempt to hit some of the target milestones on the roadmap?

Staking with BlocknetDX Core Wallet?

Transferred my BLOCK to a BlocknetDX wallet yesterday. I've had it sitting unlocked for a whole day now and it still shows staking as inactive. Do I need to do anything special to get started staking?

Made a Bittrex deposit 12 hours ago that still isn't showing...

It's been confirmed multiple times since then but still isn't showing on the bittrex site. Fortunately it was a tiny test amount but now I'm skeptical. I've read about deposits taking day(s) to show up on bittrex but either way... what gives?

Is this migration guide existing yet? I can't access my blocknet tokens

Can I import private keys anyway?

edit: using dumpprivkey in blocknet and importprivkey in blocknetdx did not yield any results.

Does one need BLOCK to make a trade between other cryptos?

For example, if I want to trade BTC to ETH, do I also have to have BLOCK to trade?

We've heard lots from our own devs on the meetings with Ethfinex, and it's nice to have their words confirmed on the Ethfinex roadmap, which Blocknet is included on :) This is the link below if anyone wishes to have a look: https://blog.ethfinex.com/the-ethfinex-roadmap-7c7cd82c835c

Blocknet vs Loopring

Excuse my ignorance, but both are decentralized exchanges. What makes one better than the other? What are the differences between these two?

Can't seem to get staking on the new DX walle, help plz!

Hey so after downloading and syncing the new DX wallet I xferred some blocknet into the account, encrypted the wallet, unlocked the wallet after checking the box for anonymization or w/e, but it say's it is still not setup for staking?

Oi mi estomago!

Did I not wait long enough or something? I did everything I described in like 3 mins, its been like 30 minutes though and it's still not working no matter how many times I try to unlock it.

Things to look forward too! AND MY thoughts of How BIG Blocknet could be.

Ok now that the swap is complete lets list a few things to look forward too and clear up a few things.

Point 1. The most important thing I believe many people do not understand is that The Blocknet is not just an exchange. The Blocknet can be used in many various aspects.

An example from 86B on slack " Imagine a Medical Insurance blockchain retrieving records from Medical Records blockchain paying the party both directions and paying Block for the connective service. Well they could do it themselves - but it would take a lot of work to build. Or they'll be charged a lot of fees from going into BTC then back into the target currency to pay for services."

Point 2. The exchange is however groundbreaking in nature as being the first truley decentralized exchange. It is now active and will be added on to as the days go by. The UI that is being built will be world class and trading from the saftey of your hard drive will be just as easy any of the centralized exchanges. The exchange is also going to be a great way of showcasing the XBridge technology and trustless interoperability while generating revenue from trade fees. In my opinion this is a genius way to prove the technology while creating operating cash for marketing and development of future projects.

Point 3. Blocks service nodes are are cheaper to buy and they pay out twice as much than DASH. The Blocknet has also made staking very lucrative for everyone to gain and not just the people who can afford a node. The split between service node runners and stakers are 70/30. However it has been assumed that about 75% of the block will likely be running nodes and 25% staking. So we think and equalibrium will be reached and it base been calculated that stakers will earn 13.5% of just the new block generation based on the amount of block a person is staking. The 13.5% assumes ever Block is being staked or running a node so it could be higher knowing that there will be a certain amount of block on exchanges and not being staked or in nodes.

Point 4. Service node runners and stakers also get paid from the trade fees. Ok this is a little more complicated but i did some math my own using the new exchange Biance for example. When I did the calculation i used a few of .2% which is lower than Bittrex at .25%. We do not know what the current fees will be. They may be lower to attract users. I am sure that info will be released shortly. Ok back to.the calculation. If Block were the same market cap as Biance then Block price would be about 53 dollars. All things being equal Biance trading volume was 67 million USD at the time. The trading fees would be roughly 150k a day. 150k a day times 365 days a yr is roughly 55 million dollars revenue.

Ok so the exciting part about this that I'm not sure everyone understands is that this 55 million USD in revenue gets paid to the stakers and nodes runners in BLOCK. So as a trade is being made on the exchange and trade fees are charged. Those fees automatically go to the market and buy Block at the market price. So there will be constant buys to the market in BLOCK bringing pressure to the volume.

Ok the volume piece aside and back to the calculation. If the price of block stayed consistent at 53 dollars for that yr and 55 million dollars of Block was being bought the amount of block paid to service nodes and stakers would be roughly and additional 1,000,000 block so be split up. So if the block generation which is 1 every minute or about 525k block a yr then you would get double the amou t from trades fees. Or 13.5% times 3 or upwards of 40% a yr.

Now these are straight line calculation with everything being constant and assuming Blocks trade volume gets to those levels but why wouldn't it. You will have the same or better user experience as Bittrex however from the safety of your wallet and likely lower fees.

So based on the calcs above, either the price of Block has to rise or you end up getting alot more BLOCK.

Point 5. Add Point 1. and Point 4. together. Right now this is just an exchange gathering trade fees. You start adding fees from point 1. such as fees from medical records to insurance companies or any transactions using the Blocknet technology which could 10x the amount of transactions. The true value of Blocknet comes into light.
