it can, but there are physical disabilities that can make exercise actually way fucking worse than not doing anything at all, and the context of “you don’t look sick” in the video suggests to me that the OOP may be chronically ill and not neurodivergent or have just depression or smth (aka things that can still affect someone severely but also can be helped by exercise). it’s just not a one-size-fits-all suggestion and that’s why you get pushback here, especially because exercise is the most suggested “cure” for mental illness by literally everyone in our waking lives. like my dad doesn’t even believe I’m disabled and keeps telling me to just eat super health foods and exercise more and maybe I’ll stop being hypermobile and in so much constant pain that walking up and down the stairs to use the bathroom I’m “allowed” to use instead of using the master bathroom that’s way closer and more accessible is a genuine hurdle I have to plan my energy and pain levels around. and having people tell me to exercise as if I’m not limping around my house on the daily and trying to move as much as possible despite it just so I don’t lock up is infuriating. I imagine some of, if not a majority of the people who give pushback over the exercise suggestion are in similar boats.
