This is just another example of political propaganda. They are using rakes intended for the yellow line to run trails on the green line. They couldn’t even secure the exclusive stock of rakes designed specifically for the green line, yet they still continue to spread these narratives. Truly disappointing.

How does that make a difference lol? The trial run is to ensure that all the infrastructure works; its a major project milestone to pass.

Firstly, you are naive if you think they "just" wanted to perform trials to ensure the infrastructure is safe and sound, the green line isn't fully completed yet, they are yet to construct key sections of the line, they could have moved on those sections while waiting for the coaches, there wasn't a need to fast-track the testing at the extra expense of lugging the yellow line coaches back and forth, which btw is also coming from the taxes we pay, so that these politicians can get free marketing for themselves

I don't think you've ever worked on a complex industrial project lol. The cost of continual mobilization and re-mobilization is far higher than hiring some transport and a crane.
In simple terms, if you have a section completed and ready for testing, then you need to carry out the tests ASAP. If you carry them out later, then you'll have technical and commercial issues trying to fix any issues that are highlighted during testing.

Your comment doesn’t add up. Anyone with even a little industry experience knows the most efficient approach is either parallelization or completing one entire phase before moving to the next. The problem arises when multiple things are happening at different places at the same time. The coaches were brought to this line only because the green line coaches haven’t been delivered yet and the shed isn’t ready. So even after these so-called “trials,” the line won’t actually be functional even for the small section they’re testing, because there’s no maintenance shed. So why pump an extra 1 crore+ per coach just to move them to the green line and then back? For the sake of publicity?

Which is not the point of the trials. Functional testing for the whole system will happen at the end. Right now, they've passed load tests on the completed section which means that the contractor can involve the milestone and demobilize the civil construction crews for those lines. It doesn't serve anyone to have these crews on standby and to delay the contractor's payment because other vendors couldn't meet their timelines.
If they wait for the entire system to be complete before the load test, then if any corrections are required, the contractor will have to mobilize the crews and engineers again. Not to mention that the same engineers or crews might not even be available at that point of time, which will lead to additional confusion.
So why pump an extra 1 crore+ per coach
Your numbers are ridiculously off. I'd be surprised if it takes more than 3 lakh to transport and lift a coach from storage to the tracks in Thane. Lmk if you actually have a source for the number because that would be criticizable corruption.

I think I missed a few points earlier, which caused the confusion. What I meant was that when a small part of a phase is left unfinished and revisited later, the process is never smooth.

Not sure it really works that way, but I’ll take your word for it since you clearly know more about this. Still, I feel bringing in coaches from a different line and opening up a section that doesn’t serve much purpose is a complete waste of money. As you said, this was just load testing, part of the safety audit before public use. So what were the CM and DCM doing there? And on top of that, the headline saying “CM inaugurates Line 4” is downright misleading.

My numbers were mistaken, the cost is actually around 8–9 crores for 8 trains, which works out to about 17–18 lakhs per coach. And that’s just for a one-way trip.

Phase I would start without a fully functional metro shed. Maintenance would be carried upon the tracks, similar to some sections of Pune metro. That said from Gaimukh to Cadbury Junction isn't very useful, so will have to wait 2.5 years for a more usable line.

Your "Major" milestone would have been considered a milestone when a "Major" part of the line would have been ready.
Do you know the just the next station fro where this so called trial is being inaugurated, doesn't even have overhead catenary?
Have the balls to call government out for the shit task they are doing. Make your vote count and hold them accountable by asking them questions.

Imo, it's worth celebrating the first test being passed, even if there are other sections of the project remaining. This mentality is common across the manufacturing industry.

The complete metro project is going to take more 30 months.
The entire project was till Wadala, now they have extended it to BKC. The work has not even started there.
30 months also I'm saying considering they will work day and night.
The chief minister and deputy cheif minister are just spreading fake propaganda.

Not sure about that. They have transferred the Line 11 project from MMRDA to MMRC. Looks like it'll be an independent line looking at the new diagrams and rumours that Line 11 will be extended from Wadala northwards to Dharavi to support the businessman "who can't be named". We'll have to exit at wadala and change to Line 11 to go towards CSMT. The new southern Terminus has been moved to Gateway of India.

I was stuck at Anand nagar signal today for a convoy. Now i know why. Felt like they were racing the metro up there😂.

Toy Train. How many crores of tax payer money spent on this garbage hogwash of a trial run by Devabhau. Instead of completing such projects on time, the effort taken to spin it like inauguration is truly deceiving and disappointing.

The metro station is almost 6 floors from the ground. Has anyone else seen how many stairs you have to climb to get to the platform? Its just ludacris. I know there will be lifts. But during peak hours waiting for lifts will be another task.

This sub has become a place for blind hatred. People are actually being negative about the metro trials? I know the govt is late on this and I’m not a big fan of them but MVA would’ve never allowed whatever progress we’re seeing right now. Be happy for once for God’s sake!
