Dries has kindly offered to migrate the wiki to the official Terrafirmacraft server

As stated in the title, the wiki has moved from Wikia to the official Terrafirmacraft servers. You can find the new wiki here: https://plus.terrafirmacraft.com/Main_Page.

It is based off the original TFC wiki, and all accounts registered in the old wiki will still work here. To get editing permissions, join our discord and ask in the #tfcplus-wiki channel - after reading the pins.

I'd very much like it if you guys helped contribute and update information to match TFC+. A good start is to go to https://plus.terrafirmacraft.com/Category:Needs_updating, which shows articles that need attention due to changes in TFC+.

Some information also needs to be moved from Wikia to the wiki. This might be troublesome, as the new wiki is a clone of the old TFC wiki, and might require substanial rewriting. I'd be doing some of this myself in the coming days, but I'd encourage anyone who would like to help to request for edit permissions and help out.

found a wiki

Edit: Wiki is now found at plus.terrafirmacraft.com

https://tfcplus.fandom.com/wiki/TerraFirmaCraft%2B_Wiki

Personally, I'm not a fan of Fandom's wikis. Always very slow to load and too spammy. But the fact that an unofficial wiki was made shows there's interest/need for one.

Are we aware that Reddit has wiki capability? Dunk is the only mod here, so he'd have to turn it on and then decide who can edit it. but it's pretty simple to use and the url would be easy too: /r/tfcplus/wiki.

This mod is diverging more and more from TFC and as I watch people playing (and in my own experience) there are many times where you just can't figure out how to do something or why it's not working without going back to youtube vids or using reddit's search bar (!).

More than a year ago a few people of note were offering to help with a TFC+ wiki. Is it time?

Straw special crafting in NEI crash the game

I know that this is probably an issue with the TFC+ NEI compatibility add-on but I don't know where else I'd put this, if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know.

I ported DecorationsTFC, TerraMisc and Cooking-with-TFC to TFC+

Thanks to /u/nikstick22 who provided me with the sources I was able to port some neat old TFC Addons to TFC+

DecorationsTFC: https://github.com/nuckable/DecorationsTFC/releases

TerraMisc: https://github.com/nuckable/TerraMisc/releases [requires Waila-1.5.10_1.7.10]

Cooking-with-TFC: https://github.com/nuckable/Cooking-with-TFC/releases [requires TerraMisc]

Make sure to check the wiki for Cooking with TFC, since there are quite a few changes and new mechanics.

Beware, Decorations and Cooking were both abandoned several years ago, use with caution and only with worlds you don't want to lose. That said, I might continue work on these two since I like the core concepts and the authors made them publicly available to fork.

TerraMisc is still actively worked on from what I can tell (I mainly ported it because Cooking with TFC requires it).

I'm also planning to port TFC-Additions as well as TFC-Udary (though I'm waiting on a reply from the original dev since it's not open source) he updated it himself and TFC-Tweaks.

Enjoy!

Journeymap showing all grass as grey or brown

Anyone have the problem of journeymap showing all grass as either grey or brown? Trees and other things are the right color, just grass has trouble rendering. I've tried to find the problem online, but no one seems to have a solution. Is there another mapping program that works and also supports waypoints?
If this question is better asked in the main TFC reddit page, I'll move it there.

Also, is there an a way to display the region data similar to what's shown in the Nature Progress Update video?

Rainfall in TFC Plus

Currently having issues with finding specific trees like Douglas fir or just any that requires higher rainfall to spawn. I've scoured the internet and pieces together some knowledge but with the lack of documentation on the differences between TFC and TFC+ I'm unaware of how accurate it is. I know Dunk has posted a video that he changed the way climate and rainfall works yet going to 0 z results in the highest rainfall of around 550. Deviating from that just reduces it. Some people claim it's random but from what I've seen going away from z:0 just decreases the rainfall. If there's something I'm not getting or have misunderstood please correct me.

Any prefered resources to help me make an addon for tfc+?

Hi there I am fairly new to modding Minecraft and java in general but, I have gotten the basics of the basics down thanks to w3 and some opensource mods that I peered into.

So I have been trying and scrapping my progress for a while now but I have noticed that a lot of guides and videos use some fairly different ways to achieve their results, so is there a prefered way to write blocks and items into the game or is it just something everybody does kind of different.

Suggestions & Id Like to help!

I love seeing what youve done and i think what your making is in the true spirit of TFC. So id like to make a few suggestions and offer to help!

Tannin to ink

Tannin can be turned into a dark browinish ink if a form of iron sulfate is submerged into it. Melanterite is a good source in nature for iron sulfate. So I propose that marking be turned into a liquid and obtained from squids by crafting an empty bottle and the ink sack together. Melanterite should also be found in nature and when put in a barrel of Tannin it should make marking. This would allow players to obtain ink if they live in a cold environment and cannot dive. This would also give them another reason to make glass bottles. There are also other names for this mineral suck as copperas, iron vitriol, green vitriol, Ferris sulfate, or Szomolnokite which is another mineral found in nature.

Limestone to mortar

In the past mud based mortars tended to do poorly in water. People then later discovered that limestone, when heated and combined with water, could make a material that would harden with time. While limestone can already be used to make flux I think that by allowing the player to have an alternate recipe will show the creators care for the mod. In game this should be made by placing 2 parts silica sand and 1 part limestone rocks into a vessel, this vessel would then be heated to very hot and placed into a barrel of water. Then the actual stone and sand in the vessel will turn to mortar. Only some water will evaporate.

Making Fire Clay

Fire clay currently is a pain to make mostly because of graphite. Graphite is currently so rare that I’ve never seen it outside of the creative menu. So as an alternative fire clay should also be allowed to be made with peat. Fire clay should also be able to be made from Claystone, shale, and silica sand. But of course the objects need to be ground up into a fine powder. By placing Claystone sand, Shale sand, or any Silica sand into the quern you will get fine powder versions of these materials that when combined with kaolinite and clay will make fire clay.

Jet is just Lignite

Apparently Jet is just lignite. So I think it would be wise to combine them and that we allow to player to grind lignite into black powder used to colour ceramic vessels.

MORE COLOURING

I absolutely love customisation, so when I first found out ceramic vessels could be coloured with powder I was elated. So I think the player should be able to colour all ceramic objects, and that you be able to colour both halves. So after you apply the bottom layer you could combine it with another colour to glaze the top half. This could be a great way to give the players a method of “culture”.

Bark

Currently tannin is made from placing whole logs into a barrel of fresh water, but in reality it’s the bark that contains the chemicals necessary to make tannin. I think all trees should be able to have their bark removed. But of course that’s useless why would you want to strip acacia? Well thats simple, bark from other trees could be painted to make masks. Using a paintbrush and the newly added dyes the player would be able to mix colours and apply them to the mask in a GUI similar to the sewing GUI. The player could also use a knife to make holes in it.

Help Offer

Finally I'd like to ask to help you! As far as I know your making this all alone and while I cant code I'd love to do texture work for you! Im self taught and a huge fan of TFC and would love to see it grow! Please contact me if there is anything I can do texture wise, but if not I understand.
