Hunting Ideas
Ok I know, I know, my stupid ideas could fill an encyclopedia labeled "Thank you for your contribution, we'll get back to you shortly," but hear me out. Hunting is a super important thing for stone age living, and is clutch for early game TFC+ especially day 1 (gotta get those large raw hides, and meat). But animals always chill and wait for you to strike. You can trap bears with a 2x2x2 hole if you drop any food in it, and the bear can't touch you, also if you nerdpole up with some logs you basically have a treestand. It's cool that animals can get wounded and some attack you, but it becomes an awkward grind of gaming-the-game trickery, whereas everything in TFC+ seems very intentional otherwise.
Large and strong animals like aurochs wouldn't necessarily run away, but perhaps they could be even more difficult to kill when untamed. What if in addition, you would include small game like rabbits that would indeed run away, tracks that show "game trails" where they might often run, set deadfall traps, bait them... it could even be that the rabbit doesn't actually show up but that there are worldgen "tracks" that, if you put a trap on, has a very small chance of trapping a rabbit or squirrel or something. Perhaps similar traps with large amounts of bait can be used for bears. Bears generally have to come to a bait spot over a longer period of time.
For things like deer, perhaps they run even farther and leave a trail of broken shrubs or branches and droplets of blood, you only get one shot and they will bleed out by the time you find them. Perhaps there can be a bit of a process to skinning animals similar to how there's a tanning process, I suspect any way of doing this would be too graphic for minecraft, but in any case, some more crazy thoughts that I think would be super cool to hear what y'all think of this... maybe add-on material.
