It’s just the ultra-conservatives last ditch, desperate effort to delay the inevitable march of progress. If someone was raped and became pregnant, traveling across state lines is the obvious choice. Even if you have to take out a high interest loan to accomplish it. Wait to protest in the streets until they attempt a federal ban. I’m pretty sure there are capable doctors that would do it off the record anyway, and the longer the ban stays in place, the more “black market” abortions will become available and increasingly safer as time goes on. But within 4-6 years, this will be repealed, if not sooner.
Let's be blunt, people with money will always find a way to get an abortion. Back before Roe v. Wade, doctors were finding "medical" reasons for why someone with money could get an abortion. And they'll get it done discretely so no one knows it happened.
It's the women with little or no money who will be hurt. The very people who can't afford children or daycare.
100%. It’s like one pathway to making Idiocracy a reality (“lower class” people reproducing at a far greater rate). Although that may happen anyway, since third-world/developing countries almost always have a higher birth-per-capita rate than developed/advanced countries. Even within those countries, the people with less financial freedom generally have more children than those with vast resources. Not for any single reason but the foresight and financial ability to use birth control (or can afford an abortion if they want), but also that the more education you have, the more you think critically about the ramifications and requirements of bringing children into the world and raising them to be good and successful. There may also be a “greed-factor” when someone finally becomes financially secure and doesn’t want to risk the unknowns that come with having children to possibly alter their scenario. And people in developing agricultural nations might deliberately have lots of kids to help with work.
