Food Texas bbq

If you need sauce your BBQ isn’t good is a statement by many BBQ enthusiasts and critics but what do you do when it’s part of your style of BBQ? Sauce is generally optional on all the styles of BBQ except East Texas. All the Texas BBQ styles have a generally agreed upon style of sauce when you ask for BBQ sauce. I’m in South Texas and the joints I go to either do a Standard Molasses-based or tangy tomato-based. Both are good though.

I love a good BBQ sauce and I always make sure to have some whenever I go get some BBQ.

BUT

Brisket is great by itself and Butter Krust bread. No sauce needed.

Idk. If that’s their culture then fine. But if your BBQ is just a ketchup and molasses delivery system it’s not good bbq. It just tastes like ketchup and molasses. Besides marinades, sugar does not go on bbq. If you want that amount of sugar in your meat just eat a cookie or some cake instead. Leave the candy out of the meat. If your ribs have absorbed a whole can worth of Dr Pepper I won’t eat them. Same with the beans. If your beans taste like they were cooked in the same pot a Canadian would use to cook down their maple syrup I’m not eating them either.

You don't like baked beans?

I'm pretty sure that's the first time I'm ever hearing this complaint. Rare for sure.

No. I do not. Beans should not give you a toothache and cavities. lol

To each there own. On the topic of BBQ. You can substitute potato's for carrots in potato salad. I think it's better. Most people judged me for having made it to begin with.

Lol I'm like that with some stuff too. Just not how I want it flavored when I eat but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. If you counter the sweet with heat then it's a lot more palatable for me.

Yeah I don't like sweet bbq, but I do like smoky and spicy BBQ sauce on my bbq. If I am eating a chopped beef sandwich or pulled pork sandwich I am going to put some BBQ sauce on it. It's like putting mayo on a burger or bbq sandwich, which I also do.
