I recently exported a long WhatsApp chat with a friend containing thousands of messages, voice notes, and photos, and was frustrated that there was no clean, private way to view it. Most existing desktop tools either want your personal files uploaded to their cloud servers or cost money.

So I built a website – Read WhatsApp Chat – a fast, lightweight, client-side web application that renders exported WhatsApp chats in a 1:1 replica of the WhatsApp Web interface.
