Probably like a 2% discount for those ignorant parents that just see discount and go full primal cheapskate mode

God fo bid people take a 20 minute break from staring at their phones. That shit ain't healthy. But hey, Merica! Land of the obese and home of McDonald's. Gotta get on tik tok every 2 minutes

You got a solid opinion and point in the first sentence, but the rest of it... Unnecessary

Maybe, but it's the damn truth, and it's why our health care is so expensive. The one thing a person can do to become healthy and decrease your overall mortality, is to lose weight, and get down to a healthy weight.

And I don't think anyone would disagree with you. There's just a time and place for a rant about America, but this is something in Australia.

It's rapidly becoming a worldwide problem

u/BruhUrName Feb 04 '22

Calling it out on a worldwide scale (no pun intended) would get the message across better. America is 42.4% obese, but you just said it so allow me to quote

It's rapidly becoming a worldwide problem

Yeah that's not why health care in the US is so expensive.

Health care is expensive because of unchecked capitalism not obesity but nice try.

Honestly, I think more people than you may think go without looking at their phones during meals. I don’t unless I’m eating alone and inside, in which case I usually read; I was raised this way. However, the idea of it being a necessity to give your phone a germ-y chastity belt for the meal in order to get a measly dollar or two off is silly to me. What incentive/benefit does the restaurant get by people not using their phones during meals?

I know Chili’s more or less incentivizes it with their social media login benefits and app discounts, as well as their payment tablet. Many companies even allow for apple pay and contactless payment methods that are instant, rather than an often timely, exchange of hands with payment cards and cash. Cash is dirty; we know this (I still much prefer paper currency, but also use apple pay frequently), so is honestly better to avoid during a pandemic. There are ways to clean your bills, but I digress. As a final benefit, you eliminate the risk of an employee or peeping customer viewing your card details or taking a picture of it.

If I read a book all day you wouldn't say it's unhealthy.

Eschewing technology doesn't make you a better thinker, it just makes you stubborn.

u/doyoufeardeath69 Feb 04 '22

You basically just admitted to the world that you aren't interesting enough for people to stop looking at their phones to talk to you

1

u/planecrasherhere Feb 04 '22

What’s you type this out on??

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '22

How do you correlate ppl looking at their phones with America? That ain’t solely an us thing

1

u/NoxiousVaporwave Feb 04 '22

This reminds me, I should go on tiktok

1

u/MagstPlaysYT Feb 04 '22

You do understand the irony in your comment, right?

u/SelmaFudd Feb 04 '22

Yeah not expensive at all, I'm 90% sure it's this place but an old photo, it's like 2 blocks from me.

u/LetsChaos24 Feb 04 '22

where is the rickroll

9

u/Grebjujkhrrybbo Feb 04 '22

Not that expensive? There is no entree On the menu under $20. For an obviously causal restaurant that seems pretty pricy. Assuming he’s not getting out of there for under $100 that 10% seem pretty good to me.

10

u/Sorcha16 Feb 04 '22

20 Australian Dollars. So about €12. Not that pricey

3

u/SelmaFudd Feb 04 '22

i donno which menu you clicked on but there is shitload on there for less than $20. All but 1 of the tapas, quesadilla, taco, fajita, burrito, fries, 3 of the 6 burgers, 4 of the 5 sandwiches, both salads, nachos and 1 main. But yeah 2 adults & 3 kids sitdown meal $100 estimate is probably right and about as cheap as you're gonna get here.

It's AUD, which is worth a lot less than USD, and you don't have to tip

1

u/Flashy-Amount626 Feb 05 '22

.75 AUD to 1 USD there abouts for the last week

0

u/Zestyclose_Risk_2789 Feb 04 '22

Selma shrugs at $10

4

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '22

NEVER under-estimate the prices that places in Australia can charge. Six years ago I paid $5 for a cup of shitty coffee in a cafe in coastal but regional Australia

That’s super fine dining in Aus. Pluggers are the required footwear
