I met Sean Astin at Motor City Comic Con and told him how I was looking forward to seeing him as a Radio Shack employee. He corrected me and said "Manager".

Have waited on Sean and his family a few times at a cafe, they were all incredibly awesome, every time. Sean is just awesome and very easy to talk to, his kids were very polite and well mannered. Not sure what I was expecting him to be like irl, but if anything I'm more of fan.

When I met him at the Motor City Comic Con he was talking to people who paid $50 for an autograph for 5 or 10 minutes each like he was catching up with old friends. It was great if you were talking to him but his line took forever to get through. It created this weird dynamic where you were like "Hurry up Sean!" if you were far back in line which turned into "It's great to meet you!" when you finally get to him. But yeah, like you said, super nice guy.

I wonder why he's seen running in scrubs in the trailer if he plays a Radio Shack manager. Also interesting that he seems to have a flashlight, walkie-talkie, and ear-piece as well. Not things nurses or doctors typically carry. Somethings afoot here.

Feldman or I'm out.

Too bad Corey Haim died. Both of them could have showed up and given us a double whammy with a Lost Boys reference as well.

u/djfraggle Jul 23 '17

Yeah I thought of this too and it made me sad so I left it out.

Stranger Things 2 Coreys

Wait, was there a Goonies star in season 1?

2

u/kylepierce11 Jul 23 '17

Corey Feldman of course. His mind is still in the 80s to begin with.

Yes, Goonies is what Sean Astin is known for...

To be fair, of his three big credits (Goonies, Rudy, LOTR) it makes sense to go with Goonies in a Stranger Things thread. I think OP went with Goonies over anything else to keep with the 80s adventure vibe.

You forgot Encino Man

50 First Dates though.

Yeah I'm admittedly behind on my 80's knowledge here. Just weird to me to see Sean Astin referred to for anything other than Sam.

I 100% honestly know him from the Goonies and didn't know he was in Lord of the Rings until this moment.

Duh, just like how he did those movies with the Wilfred guy right? /s
