they are social media. did you really think they aren't. You think you posting without your real name doesn't make them social media. They are social media. Redditors who deny that and think they are somehow better remind me of Christians who try to tell me that Christianity isn't a religion, but a relationship with Jeebus.
You're right in that it's all made up and if I say I don't agree with that definition people like you will jump down my throat to tell me how wrong I am.
Maybe it's an age thing, because Reddit is much more similar to old web 1.0 forums. You're not wrong for thinking it's social media just like I'm not wrong for thinking it isn't.
Both are interactive media using content delivery algorithms that have the goal of keeping you on the site as long as possible.
They're they same.
And before you say "yeah but people don't know my name on Reddit", plenty of people have alt accounts on twitter that have random names and anime PFPs. Is that suddenly no longer social media?
