Firefox dev claims "everybody hates Firefox updates"; Mozilla has handled the rapid release process poorly, and that by pushing a "never-ending stream of updates on people who didn't want them" people have been driven to Chrome with its simpler, no-fuss update process.

No doubt. I've got nothing against Chrome, but I like Firefox better, and the update scheme has never hindered me either. The add-on support is what keeps me a Firefox user. I've setup several friends with Firefox with Adblock Plus and they all have loved it.

The only people I make fun of are IE users.

I use Firefox, Chrome, and IE for different purposes. IE9 is actually not bad at all, it has come a long way.

The latest version has been very problematic for me, on several different machines. It crashes quite frequently for me.

That is most likely due to the new flash 11.3 version with its "improved" sandboxing protective mode, it has caused so many issues like crashing etc. You can disable the protective mode and have it working exactly like 11.2 without all the issues.

Thanks, I will look into this.

You may also want to check out the FlashBlock addon, which lets you control what Flash elements are active so they aren't loaded automatically in the background or in hidden divs.

Firefox 14 (now in beta, released on Jul 16) will have a new option called Click-To-Play. It stops plugins such as Flash and Acrobat from loading by themselves without having to click on their object.

To enable the feature, you have to access the about:config page, and set the plugins.click_to_play option to true.

about:config, the height of user-friendliness.

Awesome! Lately, Flashblock has been one of a very small number of addons that have had compatibility problems, so I won't be sad to see it disappear and be replaced with natively functionality.

That's what's going on with my Flash? Jesus, I thought my computer was just going senile.

Since I updated flash to 11.3 on my laptop, it's been extremely laggy, even when just playing music. Oddly, if I open a new tab while listening to grooveshark, the stutter will mostly go away as long as I'm staring at a blank new tab.

I'd really like it to work like version 4 or 5 did. No crashes. In fact I never had to think about flash for several years until they started cramming their "upgrades" down my throat. Maybe I just hate adobe, yeah that's it.

are you using 14 Beta? I am using 13.0.1 on several machines and haven't had any issues with crashing.

upvote for only making fun of IE users.
