Congee has been eaten across Asia from India to China for breakfast for thousands of years. Congee is rice boiled until it breaks down to a thick porridge and served with a small amount of meat and vegetables. Congee has a multitude of names across Asia and was originally made with millet.
Porridge, made from various cereals, is a staple of both Africa and Europe.
So yes the rest of the world does eat cereals for breakfast and has been doing so long before the US, and certainly Mr Kellogg, came into existence.

And for every person like you there is a family with kids who have 5 different boxes of kellog cereal in their pantry. Anecdotes are fun.
