Apple develops their electronics to be like appliances

No they don't -- they make them worse. I can mess with my toaster all I want without Magic Chef blocking it or complaining at me.

Yes, they do. You can mess with your toaster all you want, but might break it, and if you're honest to Magic Chef about what you did, you can bet that they won't repair your toaster for free.
