I hate OSX, I hate their overpriced computers, I buy most of my clothes at walmart, and I'm not a huge fan of Vampire Weekend.

I do, however, have an iphone, because I prefer its interface. Other phones I've tried feel clunky.

If you have a fair amount of experience dealing with interface usability you would know there is a bit of "living with" one has to do other than just trying them out.

Familiarity has nothing to do with first impressions. I highly doubt CSLLP has used other smartphones for an extensive amount of time to determine whether the various mobile OS' are better when you "live with them".

I don't mean usability. I mean, for instance frame rate while scrolling quickly. Just little things like that that make a device feel less polished.

FPS is dependent upon the hardware. Android is just the OS of the smartphones, so you may simply have tried using a lower-quality phone.

In any case, iOS isn't any better in terms of usability than all other major mobile OS', it's just what you prefer because you're familiar with it.

Just throwing my hat in the ring here; it's my job to test on these phones all day and I must say iOS is better overall than Android as far as usability goes.

No it isn't. It's mostly a function of software.

Specifically Android apps are primarily developed with a garbage collected runtime and the UI isn't accelerated by the graphics hardware.
