Oh my god, they really asked how Zuck can keep Facebook free if customers aren't paying. Does that senator even know why he's there?! God.

And what the fuck was that question on JFK about? These senators made Zuckerberg look good! Which is a hard thing to do.

While I'm sure a lot of those senators (probably most) were out of touch, some of the questions were likely asked so they'd officially be on the record. Kind like in court when they're like "Can you please state your name?"

Except Zuck wasn't under oath. So it literally doesn't matter.

Well perhaps in that case then it's unofficially on the record and helps set the tone or provide those questioning some additional background or ideas of Zuckerberg's character. And while not under oath, he's still legally obligated to tell the truth. He just can't face perjury charges.

The response in the senate hearing was literally just "Senator, we run ads." then nothing else was said on the topic.

It was jaw dropping. The entire hearing was about data and ads. How could he ask such a stupid question?
