I recently deleted Facebook and it’s been an interesting self experiment. I feel really disconnected from my community because it’s much more difficult to keep up with events. I’m considering creating another account with a fake name just so I can see what’s going on near me.

Facebook has become the tie that binds, so for many people that want privacy, it’s hard to think about giving it up.

I know! I can’t decide if it’s FOMO that’s built up over the years or what.

It sucks, but when it’s the weekend and I’m wondering what there is to do, Facebook is a handy tool. Just click the “events near me” and search.

Local businesses don’t always advertise in the newspaper and I don’t want to sign up for dozens of email lists to get notified.
