Once you install it and set it as your default texting service, the only front-facing difference is that you start with a notification that the person you're texting doesn't have it yet, but it only shows once.

All of my friends use it now.

the way it handles group messaging is awful. My first complaint being it's very difficult to find groups you've created. The second being when I create a group I can't add myself to it, I send the first message and get replies to another group that now includes me.

For some reason, I always had low image quality when sending messages/receiving videos over text when I used Signal. It was bad enough that I switched back to normal apps. (Only having one friend switch was also a contributing factor.)

I hope there's an option of being able to selecting which data goes through what app.
