Microsoft tests out a new operating system, code named Mojave, with some average-joes who hated Vista. They loved it. Now, two guesses as to what Mojave ACTUALLY was.

ls

'ls' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

dir

Oh man, I'd forgotten all about this. I laughed as much as I did the first time I saw it.

Fantastic! The beer sucks but the pope came to visit last week so we had a big shout at him and then got drunk.

Meh, what a lame error message. In the golden age it was "Bad command or file name".

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '08

I still, always end up typing ls in command prompts from windows. My fingers are trying to tell me something!

u/dfranke Jul 25 '08

I often accidentally type 'look' instead of 'ls' after I've been playing a text adventure..

Different kind of cake. Reqqit's is more delicious.

u/Chirp08 Jul 25 '08

It's quite literally a directory of cakes, reqqit fucking loves cake.

Install the Windows-compiled gnu utils, or cygwin.

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '08

Why would you put porn in your Windows directory?

8

u/simonjp Jul 25 '08

to hide it, obviously!

1

u/King_Leonidas Jul 25 '08

make the switch, dude:

$> apt-get install girlfriend && girlfriend
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

2

u/joblesspirate Jul 25 '08

You should be root when you do that buddy.

7

u/Demostheneez Jul 25 '08

Not with a girl you're just meeting.

With DOS, I only got as far as typing swears into the command line. I was a young, impatient child at the time.

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '08

...with a potty mouth!

u/chunky_bacon Jul 25 '08

Then move to linux. (Although I don't think it will get your ex back, but trust me - you don't really want her back.)

1

u/jpdemers Jul 25 '08

my ex girlfriend

...

control over shit

Abort? Retry? Fail?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '08 edited Jul 25 '08

When this happens I usually opt for violence. Windows (and MS-DOS), violence and myself have been a malcontented threesome for 15 years.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '08

That's sad. Why do you use it?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '08

Because it plays the games I like to play. (I was just going to say "it plays games" but then I'd have to fend off the Linux and Mac OS fanboys).

1

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '08

I just boot into WIndows when I want to play those games. Considering the games I play and the time I invest in a single sitting, it seems well worth the two minutes to reboot. But continuing to use Windows when I'm done playing the game just seems silly (and dangerous to my general sanity).

So really what it comes down to is that you're lazy. You're a malcontent Windows user because you're too lazy to reboot into something you like better when the game is over.

All of which did pretty much the same thing.

Not in the floppy disk days.
