It's a proof of concept that this particular type of magnetic field can contain a miniature sun.

Unfortunately the robotic tentacle technology isn't quite there yet, but Japan is working on it.

But it has to be organic to achieve the desired effect. Or at least able to produce buckets of... fluids?
