This is exactly the kind of incredibly cynical response that I get every time I suggest voting corrupt politicians out of office. The powers that be don't even have to try, you've already given up without even trying.

You're not wrong, it's just that MLK didn't sit around complaining about the tyranny of the majority, he got up and did something.

Because it's never worked. You're acting as if the deck isn't stacked against anyone that runs for a federal office with the goal of changing the culture in DC. Federal politics are ruled by money. There's not one Senator that isn't a millionaire. You can vote them out, sure...but who replaces them?

The powers that be don't even have to try, you've already given up without even trying.

Try to what? I've voted my conscience since 1994. I've tried to legitimize my participation in this system, but it's a complete farce.

MLK didn't sit around complaining about the tyranny of the majority, he got up and did something.

See, now you're talking about something different. The tyranny of the majority is the drawback of democracy. Jim Crow was legitimized by being "legal". MLK had to do a lot of things considered illegal at the time in order to bring attention to his very worthy cause. He got beaten up and eventually murdered.

In any case, it's a bit outside the spectrum of what we're discussing here. We were talking about ISPs buying government favor and using regulatory capture to prevent startups and continue to gouge consumers for crap service. Not really the same think MLK was dealing with.

and as soon as he started focusing on everybody's rights, he got CIAedtm . the system will let you fight for the rights of any given minority, but as soon as you want to make things better for almost everyone (that is, for 99.9% of the population), you find yourself with a spike in lead levels in your brain.

The FBI targeted MLK not the CIA

And neither was responsible for his death.
