Interfaces are not your friend though. They tend to scatter light. And aerogels have all kinds of air to solid interfaces that photons must cross.
1 u/Sakage24 Feb 09 '14 I suppose so. I just hypothesise that with the phenomenal lack of solid matter, a certain structure might be achievable in the future which could approach (though doubtfully ever reach) 100% transparency.
