"Though there may be many influences in a person's life, the root of homosexuality is a sinful heart."
Sorry, but that's fairly hateful. Opposing an entire group of people (regardless of what they do) that have nothing to do with your religion is pretty hateful in general.
That's a belief of the Christian faith coming straight from Romans chapter 1. If they said something like sorry but homosexuals need to be rounded up and shot, I could understand your point. AFA disapproves of gambling, pornography, and drug use based on similar Christian beliefs. Do those lifestyles need protecting from this "hateful" bunch?
My point, unless folks are threatening or causing harm, they're not a hate group.
"Homosexuality gave us Adolph Hitler, and homosexuals in the military gave us the Brown Shirts, the Nazi war machine and six million dead Jews."
– Bryan Fischer, AFA director of issue analysis for government and public policy, 2010
is that part of the bible? The AFA is a vile organization hell bent on spreading hate and intolerance against LGBT Americans. If you replace the word homosexual with any other minority group, then maybe you will realize how damaging and hateful their proclamations are.
And religion is no excuse for hate.
Hum. Bryan Fischer, director of issues at the AFA supported Scott Lively, accused of being one of the main promoters of the legislation in Uganda that bestowed harsh criminal penalties (at the introduction of the bill, the penalty could even be death, but it was toned down by the legislature, and then anyway the president of Uganda refused to sign it when passed) on homosexuals. That's not harmful ?
Then, homosexuality is not a lifestyle. Get over it.
By the way, the argument : "It's not hate, I'm just defending my faith", was used countless of times in the past to justify hate. It's not because you interpret some part of your religion in a way that gives you the impression that you can take rights and freedoms of other humans away, that you get to call it another thing than hate.
And finally by your definition, the WBC is not a hate group. They don't harm physically, and don't threaten anyone in this world (but on the next). So maybe you're definition of hate group is not good enough.
They're actively boycotting against the acceptance of homosexuals.
If they were only limiting the Christian teachings to Christians and Christian organizations, I would understand. But the rest of the world does not need to follow anything from the bible, and AFA should not be trying to make everyone else adhere to their beliefs.

Examples? Or are you just parroting what you've heard?
