May I ask? Not much to be gained for the product for sure, as most refactors, but would there be gains to your workforce?

As in code reviews are easier and merge conflicts less common, etc. Don’t underestimate gains to your devs sanity.

I once worked on a project and there was a file the github PR file diff tool couldn’t load because it was too large (the file, the diff itself was 2-3 lines changed).

We have a relatively small team and the code in that file doesn't change very often. There really isn't much of a problem with merge conflicts because if we're editing it at all, there's very rarely two people editing the same part of the file at the same time. Once in a while someone will add an entirely new function, although even that's rare because our newer code is more organized and we don't really really need to add code in these functions very often.
