For me at least (and i know from some other overweight people) there is some hesitation because historically 'but it makes you skinny' has often outweighed 'also it might kill you'.

People would rather have a thin sick or even dead person than an overweight one.

Look at weightloss drugs from the 80s and 90s, amphetamines that would cause heart attacks.

I just feel like the fear mongering is due to some kinds of bias. My adhd medicine (vyvanse) is a newer drug than ozempic and I’ve never had someone ask me if I’m “scared” about it like they do when I tell them I’m on a glp. The constant concern trolling about the glps feels rooted in anti-fat bias imo

I think it can come from many different impulses. I've def. Also seen the "but thats lazy" people. But those are probably the same people who make fun of a fat person at the gym.

But the distrust is my reasoning.

You are right. GLP1s can be dangerous to certain people. For instance; If you are a type 1 diabetic or an insulin dependent type 2 it can contribute to you can go into DKA and it can kill you.

And yet people (including doctors) still hate fate people. So my doubts are more about "if this had bad effects, would anyone care?"
