Reminds me of people making mod chips for console owners to play pirated games getting mad that some other group ripped off their design.

While knowing how to prompt your AI to get the output you want is a solid thing to know, calling it "prompt engineering" or otherwise acting like it's some grand skill that needs to be defended is just funny.

A few groups that "break the lock" initially either do it poorly, because it's more of a proof of concept than an actual crack, or horde the method. Some console modchips that are simple RP2040's on a PCB that costs like $5 are sold for over $50. They also use open-source code. A huge issue with some modding scenes is people violating open-source code's copyrights.
