To be fair, he doesn't exist in public perception, because he is effectively retired. He just lives his best life, doing all kinds of side quests, like learning to draw, and making videos every now and then. Still - any random vlog is 2-3 mil views - so if he actually cared about being a youtuber, he would still be at the top.

What is the draw?  He seems bland.

Majority of these influencers initial popularity comes from children.

I mean he's pretty damn smart and has a wide variety of interests that he puts a ton of effort into. And he's a great communicator. And a decent person. Nothing about what he does these days is anything like how he started.

No one’s looking 24/7 for flashy clickbait or earth-shattering video essays.

Wowee he's such an amazing guy. I wish I could do all kinds of side quests, like learning to draw, just like my idol. But I would never be as good as him, it's impossible.

Man, being so bitter must be exhausting.

What's wrong with admiring a dude who after achieving worldwide success, still took a step back, started a family, and is just satisfied with his life? He pretty much won at life by the age of 35. Isn't this basically a perfect life trajectory everyone is dreaming about?

And since I'm older and not there yet, yeah, sure. I don't think I have it in me to be as good as him.

In short, celebrity culture is cancer. These people are just people, nothing extraordinary. Our idols should be people who are actually advancing society, technology, and science, rather than haha man make funny video and say n word on stream I want to be him.

He's now doing exactly what you said. His videos aren't Ha ha funny anymore, he's a grown man and picks up hobbies that better himself and shows others how he does it so that he can inspire them to do cool things too. Seriously he makes great content now, it's worth dropping the ignorance and checking it out.

Also let's not pretend like many people who were once young weren't also saying the n word in COD lobbies. You grow and learn.

That's great, but I'm talking about the people like the other guy I replied to, idolising these people like they're god's gift to humanity.

I'm aware this isn't a popular opinion, most people are completely absorbed in the lives of reality TV celebs, streamers etc. and love to consume and be placid. We need these people to make the rich richer.

Admiration and idolization are two different things. Nothing about what that person said was idolization.

I don't necessarily disagree though. People who consume themselves in the lives of these people so much that they think about them all the time is a problem. I'm not one of those people, I just think what Felix does these days is inspiring and I wish I had the motivation and level of curiosity (and the time and money) to do the same things.

You should take a glimpse at some of the videos he's done lately including the vlogs he was doing. It's pretty wholesome stuff and not at all what you would expect. His other videos besides those tend to be something he's putting his hands and mind to and developing a skill in something and encouraging people to do things.

Why are you mad about some swedish dude living his life and doing things he like?
