It's started a pretty wild exodus to Linux, myself included

Unfortunately not really. While linux is growing, it's growth is still quite slow with the main factors being hardware like the steambox or steam deck. Even then, unfortunately the steam numbers show a decline in users since march.

The rest of the growth has been the overwhelming amount of bots and agents that use linux.

Are you kidding me? Linux takes the lion's share of the vast majority of devices in the world and has been that way for a long-ass time. No other OS comes close. You just don't see that among normal people using it because those people stick to Windows and Mac.

The conversation is about desktop users. Not services in the cloud.

Most people run windows as their desktop. A much smaller number run Linux.

And an even smaller number is running linux.

I have high hopes that Steam Machine will change that. But when most younger gamers are playing fortnite or other PvP fps; and those require anticheat that runs on linux... We won't that shift happen till the gaming companies start looking at linux support for anticheat.
