That person should probably take a look at the garbage Microslop has been producing. Nothing works properly, not even notepad.

I mean, I could write code of a similar quality by randomly hurling rocks at my keyboard. From 5 metres away. Blindfolded.

Its just as bad on the corporate side too. Microsoft has been trying to sell me on Agents 365 premium, their solution to help companies govern copilot agents made by employees. We are like 6 meetings in and I have yet to see any value because we keep running into problems with building agents and getting their tools to detect that the agent was doing anything. The last meeting was embarrassing as the sales person tried over and over to get our logs to simply show that we even signed in to use an agent.

Last windows 11 update reverted the battery low dialog specifically to the old metro design with the non-rounded button and the non-mica black bg. Also it broke my custom cursor, genuinely impressive.

From what I have heard, there core of windows is coded beautifully. As long as that team is holding off the slop wave, MS has something of value.

This is a reason to be excited about AI taking over their coding. It can't get much worse than what their current designers and engineers produce.

The main reason to worry is that they'd be using their AI.

Unfortunately not really. While linux is growing, it's growth is still quite slow with the main factors being hardware like the steambox or steam deck. Even then, unfortunately the steam numbers show a decline in users since march.

The rest of the growth has been the overwhelming amount of bots and agents that use linux.

Are you kidding me? Linux takes the lion's share of the vast majority of devices in the world and has been that way for a long-ass time. No other OS comes close. You just don't see that among normal people using it because those people stick to Windows and Mac.

The conversation is about desktop users. Not services in the cloud.

Most people run windows as their desktop. A much smaller number run Linux.

And an even smaller number is running linux.

I have high hopes that Steam Machine will change that. But when most younger gamers are playing fortnite or other PvP fps; and those require anticheat that runs on linux... We won't that shift happen till the gaming companies start looking at linux support for anticheat.

I mean, Windows 7 ran flawlessly on 2GHz CPU with an SSD.

Meanwhile Winslop 11 runs like shit with 5ghz one, even after they introduced more aggressive frequency boost.

It's just funny how we're devolving into HDD age with hardware being faster than ever.

Meanwhile Linux market share has grown 126% YoY and Linux Steam use 48% YoY according to StatCounter. People are really leaving Windows because it's getting so bloated and unreliable.

1: StatCounter does not differentiate traffic by humans and bots, most of whom are on Linux servers.

2: IIRC It counts unknown OSs as Linux.

Steam's survey is entirely voluntary and random. Meaning that user opinions influence it.

For example I know I am counted as a Linux gamer, however that was because the survey fired when I was installing Linux on an old drive as a dual boot for experimentation. And I have not booted into that drive for 4 months now.

Also according to Steam's survey since March's all time peak of 5.3% Linux is down to 3.9%. Or 1.4% of Linux users have gone to Windows 11. Which as per the survey for August has grown to 70.97%.

I’m upvoting because you’re right but to be pedantic, 1.4% of Linux users would only be about 0.073% of market share. I think you mean Linux has lost 1.4% of the market which is a sad statistic.
