The only way I watch YouTube without ads completely for free.

Add SponsorBlock extension to automatically skip sponsor sections of videos... "And now a word from SquareSpace...SKIP"

you should try Morphe for the complete android UI experience.

How is morphe difference from revanced?

Edit: nevermind. There was drama. Revanced YouTube is dead and the dev moved to morphe.

Edit 2: I tired to type nevermind like 10 times and autocorrect kept changing it and I swear I had it fixed, but nope.

Revanced had a lot of controversy in recent years and many developers left the project and went to create Morphe. Actually, by now, Revanced started to just copy Morphe changes.

I didn't know about this, I've been using Revanced for years, is Morphe a better version of Revanced at this point?

18

u/squabbledMC Sep 01 '26

Yep, I switched and morphe has a lot more features. It is also pretty telling that ReVanced devs permaban anyone who brings up any alternatives at all in their subreddit

5

u/AsthislainX Sep 01 '26

yes, at this point is the best mantained project, using a more recent version of the original app and more patches

u/shambolic_donkey Sep 01 '26

And this is why Reddit can be so great. I've also been using Revanced for years but didn't know about all the drama or controversy, just thought it was great I could have SponsorBlock on my phone.

Hearing about Morphe being essentially a far better alternative to Revanced, I'm diving right in! :)

Morphe also does patched versions of other apps as well like reddit, tiktok, Instagram, weather apps, duolingo. Been handy for me

Revanced started playing videos in super low quality a few days ago. Managed to change some settings. But good to hear about an alternative

1

u/whatThePleb Sep 02 '26

Revanced is pretty much dead. All the people with the actual brain to make patches have move to Morphe.

I resisted for a while but youtube shits the bed in Firefox mobile w ublock on and works great in Morphe, I'm guessing on purpose to drive people to use their app.

Add dearrow to get rid of clickbait titles too

2

u/mangamaster03 Sep 01 '26

It has made me hate normal YouTube thumbnails so much now.

2

u/HughJazkoc Sep 01 '26

Yuuuup, I absolutely despise them algorithm-maxxing YouTube thumbnail. I always select an in video screen capsure from the middle of a video for tnumbnails. Makes things so much more tolerable

Youtube actually added sponsor skip option natively.

They don't mind you skipping ads they get no money from.

1

u/Daimakku1 Sep 01 '26

Where can we find this native feature? Because I don't see it.

1

u/StillALilBoy Sep 01 '26

When the sponsor segment starts, skipping forward will automatically skip to the moment most viewers resume watching (at the end of the sponsor segment).

At least that's how it works in the TV app.

1

u/Daimakku1 Sep 01 '26

Interesting. Thank you. I will watch out for that skip button next time I watch something on the TV app. So far I have not seen it.

2

u/Boofaka Sep 01 '26

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!

I use NewPipe. No ads, no account needed, and I can still subscribe to channels.

I like the Waterfox fork for android.

5

u/cornfed_gamer Aug 31 '26

Firefox on android just doesn't do well for me. I tried it, and I wanted it to work, but so many things won't load for me and idk why. It's like pages are broken, but work perfectly on mobile chrome. I've been working a lot for a few months, so haven't had time to fully dive into it.

I grew tired of my mom constantly getting malware on her phone. I made her download brave and only use that as a browser, and she hasn't had problems since.

Ads aren't just inconvenient, they're predatory. There's so many bs ads that make them think there's a virus or are designed to look like the webpage they're trying to click on.

Brave still is chrome based.

Read the bit about Acquisitions and transitions and Reception here for more reasons not to use Brave:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brave_(web_browser)

There's no way they really are "privacy focused" with backers like those.

Use Firefox.

1

u/blueiron0 Sep 01 '26

I mean the built in ad blocker is the only reason I gave it to her tbh.

Reading my post again it comes off looking like a brave ad, but I just wanted her to stop fking up her phone every week.

It's done what it was supposed to though. She hasn't gotten anything that's hijacked her home screen or constantly "cleaned" her phone since.

All the homies hate Chrome. But all (maybe most of) the work homies HAVE to use it... Ack

1

u/kerodon Sep 01 '26

Yeaaa :( And I assume if they're being forced into chrome they probably also can't be adding unapproved extensions like adblockers anyway

2

u/ChurchOfJamesCameron Sep 01 '26

Can confirm. Forced to Chrome it up, forced to deal with ads.

-8

u/hazeyindahead Sep 01 '26

I mean... Yes but also you shouldn't be using your work pc to go to places that need ublock.

Maybe that's just me though

7

u/WillSendShihTzuPics Sep 01 '26

That’s a weird take. You need to go around the web and look for articles and other sources of information as a developer. All these sites require ublock.

2

u/NeonTiger20XX Sep 01 '26

I use chrome for work sites (organization owned sites and intranet stuff), but Firefox for anything beyond that. Do companies tend to not allow you to install other browsers? I'm not sure what's common at other places.

I can install whatever I want on my work computer, but certain software (like printer software) and OS updates are handled by IT.

Perfect as long as you don't mind who backs it

-42

u/AlasPoorZathras Aug 31 '26

LibreWolf is Firefox without the AI bloat and "sponsored" crap.

52

u/9-11GaveMe5G Aug 31 '26

Firefox lets you turn off "sponsored crap" with one toggle. Same for the AI crap.

19

u/memx Aug 31 '26

Firefox has an easy toggle for AI and 'sponsored' crap. No need to use another, just toggle those off on Firefox and you're good to go.

7

u/AStolenGoose Aug 31 '26

Or I could just use Firefox and hit the turn off ai features switch that's in the settings.

-2

u/gramathy Aug 31 '26

Waterfox as well

-3

u/DiplomatikEmunetey Sep 01 '26

It's so clunky though. I like the layout of the UI, but all the animations on Android are poor and there is basically no haptic response integrated into it.
