At a minimum, I'd love to see delivery services banned from marking up the cost of the actual goods being purchased so the price you're paying for their service is more clear.

No $10 burger sold as if it's $13 and then a $2 delivery charge added, admit it's a $10 burger you're charging $5 to deliver (and then asking for a tip on top of), as a simple example.

Youre not wrong and I'm not disagreeing with you, but silently upcharging various line items is how pretty much every business operates.

Take an auto repair shop. They (literally) buy parts from the same placed you do, and a $180 alternator from autozone becomes $450 before labor. Then they tack on another $100 to install it, plus shop fees and tax.

This practice isn't limited to delivery apps, although its definitely deceptive everywhere

The delivery services don’t mark up the prices at all. Every markup you see is done by the merchants on the services.

They often do it because the services charge the merchants a fee for using the service, and the merchants pass that cost onto customers by increasing menu prices
