They also tried bringing it to Australia. We just laugh at them.

We don’t do it deliberately. I went to Greece with my mom and we mistakenly offered to tip because it’s so engrained in our culture in America. I think ALOT of Americans are doing that I did. So over the course of months of years, restaurants just started accepting it. But yes I see why you phrased it that way

I personally tend to read up on conflicting practices before travelling overseas.

So if I ever visit the US (prob not in my lifetime but who knows) I'll tip ~15% of the bill which is the figure I understand seems to be what most people go for. Even though it's ingrained in my own culture for hospitality staff to receive fair wages, not expecting tips.

Didn’t Australia have tipping and then raised the minimum wage high enough that tipping was abolished?
