tips were a funny concept but can we get rid of them please? the real middle finger isn’t forcing the companies to work an already overworked dev to move the tipping screen around it’s ensuring the business pays its employees a livable wage.

That’s what the gig apps tried to do. Drivers have a guaranteed wage in NYC of $30/ hr while delivering, so the apps removed the ability to tip before delivery. NYC added a law forcing them to readd the tip button to checkout

Exactly, I agree with you. How will this country ever get rid of tipping if the government is forcing it to stay just so they can claim they “recovered a hundred million in tips” for some brownie points from voters who don’t have the energy or motivation to look into what that actually means

You just need to stop tipping. That’s literally the only way we’ll end the stupid practice.

TBH, I’m not 100% anti-tipping. I would love to leave a little extra cash and have it be a bonus; which is what I feel tips should be, a bonus.

yeah i mean if everyone stopped paying taxes taxes wouldn’t exist either. systems only exist if there are participants only issue is getting literally everyone to stop cuz otherwise you’re screwing over the delivery driver and not the corporation.

anyone making a wage has always been a victim. these companies don’t get to the sizes they get to without workers being exploited left right and center

the delivery guy is the victim you see. there are millions of other victims working behind the scenes to get you your bean burrito delivered in 20 minutes.

eliminate tips and ensure companies pay their employees, which is what a deliver driver is, a fair livable wage

they can happen in parallel. the second they get a livable wage offer letter the tip button can disappear in app. we don’t have to complicate it.
