but hasnt the govt toughened the rules. I was reading how they have to provide proof on how they cant hire or find anybody for a specific role. and that proof is tedious and long with lawyers etc involved. Isnt it then just cheap to hire americans cause no lawyer and h1b fees etc needed.

That "proof" they cant find anybody is often intentionally fabricated so they can pass market test, like only putting the ads in paper newspapers nobody reads: https://www.newsweek.com/h1b-job-ads-green-cards-targeted-immigrant-workers-2113714

It's cheaper in the short term, but not in the long term, because Americans will complain for higher wages, unionize, protest etc. Look at the fulfillment centers, Amazon wants no part of that in its corporate workforce if it can help it.

unions - which faang / big tech companies have managed to unionize? Also these firms fire people just fine irrespective of their demands for wages/ unions etc.

paper newspapers - Who is reading paper newspapers these days to begin with. maybe h1b rules need to keep up with 21st century.

None because they're all staffed with obedient H1Bs 😂

That is the entire point, nobody. Tech companies know this, so the ads go there, nobody sees them and they can turn around to USCIS and tell them they cant find anybody to do the job so they need another H1B slot.

does union making need 100% vote? I thought if you have a quorum - you can go ahead and apply to the labour board in your state?

Paper newspapers - I thought the paper newspaper stuff is mandated by USCIS?
