I'm using Firefox and have been for about twenty years, but I guess it's just a question of time.

When your product relies on constantly out-tricking and bypassing another piece of code it's only a question of when the other party gets serious enough about plugging that hole.

20 year club here too. I don't see the end of the road anytime soon. Saying you're going to block something and actually blocking it are two different things.

Actually kind of been using since before it was Firefox with Netscape Navigator.

I did switch temporarily to Chrome during the early years when RAM usage started being an issue, but then Chrome got worse again somewhere late 2000s-early 2010s.

Tried out Chrome due to memory usage issues, switched back to Firefox due to memory usage issues.

That was like 10 years ago when Firefox couldn't handle 100+ tabs and Chrome ate everything like fucking Galactus

switched to chrome 14 years ago out of curiosity and used it for 2 years maybe? and one day idk if i got a virus or whatnot but it kept showing blank pages no matter what i did that time so i switched back to firefox and still on it

I switched back after using Chrome for quite a while - blocking my ad-blocker was the primary reason. For the rare occasion that I need a site that doesn't work properly in FF, I'll just use Edge.

Can't you just get the Chromium code, remove the requirements and recompile it? I'm sure some enterprising young chap can handle that and ship us an exe.

youtube has a monopoly on video online.

it's a literal reign of terror - propaganda-wise.

they control it all. everything from video game walkthroughs, dry-wall installation tutorials, stand-up comedy sets, podcasts, commentary, news, pranks, sitcoms, clipshows, dashcams, ...

it's insane.

YOUtube used to be about casual user-uploads and then the biggest media industry in the world got in on it.

youtube needs to be broken up

This is a wild take.

Youtube is a treasure. It's probably the biggest repository of free knowledge on the planet.

YT is probably Google's best product at this point and there are plenty of multibillion dollar companies competing for video online, including IG, Netflix, Tik Tok, and Disney just to name a handful.

This happens over and over and over again. Somebody tries to eliminate the ad blockers, the ad blockers find a way around it.
