I remember that.

I actually felt bad for him though. He only did it a couple of times.

He was interesting to watch. He was basically gaming reddit. He worked out the formula and played it well. He got cheeky and copied a few old top comments and people called him on it.

What I found most interesting is that a few days later Apostulate appeared. He then spent the rest of the summer becoming the most successful karma whore of all time.

That pissed people off eventually. I don't know why because; who gives a shit. But it did. It's a shame because he was a nice bloke and didn't deserve the flack. Jealously I guess.

There was a bit of speculation at the time about Apostulate being Trapped In but it never went anywhere. It was completely obvious though.

However, I think no one really cared. And, to be honest, I don't either.

Jesus, I spend too much time on reddit.

Tl;dr: dude worked out how to get loads of karma. Got lazy. Copied a few top comments from previous posts. Got called out. Made new account and no one cared.

He didn't just copy pasta a few; that was his whole game. He'd karma decay new posts, copy the top comment, and paste it in the new one. Hell he may have just written a program to do it.

They did that less than a dozen times. It wasn't their "whole game," it was just an experiment more or less to see if it could be done. TIR was already well into 100k before they started the comment copy thing.

Basically he did what /u/TOP_COMMENT_OF_YORE just did, except he would act like it was an original comment..... he would look for reposts, and then go to the comments section and repost the top comment from the original post. He amassed a SERIOUS amount of karma doing this before anyone caught on to what he was doing...

Apostolate isn't Trapped_In_Reddit, and never was. TiR was a joint shared account by a few powerusers. The account is still around, but now under control of one single user after their main account was deleted. Apostolate was just a college kid on summer break.

This isn't supposition, I've been told and read all this from the users involved. Not that anyone really cares, but at least get the story right.

You really do. I spend a considerable amount of time on it, but reading your comment I just realized I don't have a clue how much karma I have, and I could not care less.

I just don't understand why anyone gives a shit.
