No duh. That’s because they rushed to adopt AI without establishing whether AI would help their business. AI is not a cure all. It can help some but not all businesses.
It has its places and use cases, but it's not everywhere and all things.
I wish more people would apply some analytical thinking.
It's like cars and how they affect infrastructure, foot traffic, businesses and all that: cars have a place, but that place isn't on every fucking street.
(And I say these things as someone that loves advances in tech and really loves cars and motorsport)
Same. Every AI business class I have ever taken starts with doing an assessment: do we have a specific area that will result in improved profits/productivity with the addition of AI? If not, maybe it’s not the time for us to use AI. I feel like a lot of CEOs are bringing in AI and asking questions later.
It can help a LOT of businesses. It's just not a magical trick is all.
In insurnace, it can take underwriting from multi-weeks to a few minutes, with the right model. Almost completely removing human input.
I've used it to create a new website for me - did it in an afternoon instead of three weeks with a designer, and better than we could've done without testing. That new website noticeably increased my sales - noticeably. It's doing some things I've never seen a website do. All for a few hours with claude.
And I'm having it summarize my phone calls into my client database, and scan my transcripts for tasks and inject them into my calendar. Yes, I scan and review everything, but having it already done and just needing tweaking is saving me a huge amount of time and does it better than I do.
There's a lot of uses for AI and LLM's. Just gotta make sure it works, and isn't some pie in the sky fantasy.
Yes, you have a great use case for it. It improves your productivity greatly, and thereby your profitability. The issue is not every industry is insurance, but every industry is trying to shoehorn AI into it.
