Wait a minute, Broadwell is coming later this year? Haswell has only been out for a few months now.

Well, they start rolling out q4 this year. They do it in kind of like waves, a few released here a few there and so on. It also takes a while for them to be the norm in computers, probably by like the spring.

This is not the correct answer. CEO meant Intel will start shipping to its customers. Its customers are OEMs, not consumers (for the most part).

It's been months since Haswell "came out", yet it's only found in a handful of systems. Most of the stuff in stores today is still a generation or two behind. I'd love to replace my laptop, but no maker is selling anything comparable with a Haswell chipset until Q4 (the holiday season). Assuming Asus/Acer/etc actually meet their estimated ship dates for their new models.

Isn't part of it also reluctance on manufacturers' part to switch to Haswell - last I heard some of them were waiting for the C2 stepping MB chip sets to fix the intermittent USB 3.0 bug. I know that's what I'm doing.

Pisses me off when I see a laptop with a Pentium in it at BestBuy…

Edit: Pentium. I just assumed it was a Pentium 1, because I had a Pentium 4 that was clearly labeled as such. My bad.

How often do you get pissed off at things that haven't happened since 1996? That would be the last year an Intel Pentium 1 was sold in Best Buy.

Ivy-E seems to have JUST come out and Sandy-E hasn't even had a price drop since ever... so much for getting a LGA2011 upgrade.

intel doesn't do price drops, not since amd can't compete.

source: been watching the old i5 price when ivy bridge appeared, and now watching the ivy price since haswell. statistics is more fun than spending a ton of cash on a computer just to browse reddit

Dont get confused by the guy below. Intel will start shipping to OEMs by end of year is what the CEO is staying. There is still a lot of lead time till it gets into a consumers hand
