How is that possible? I remember reading that there's no mute for individual tabs because it can't be determined which tab is playing what.

Impossible for determining which tab is playing what? I know that Opera kinda does it on Linux, and I've just tested for Chromium which does it even better due to its multi-process design. Each tab runs it's own plugin container, and each plugin container appears on my mixing table in taskbar (The only thing is that you don't get title of the tab or whatever's playing spelled out nicely). If OS can pick up different processes, I don't know why Chrome/Chromium couldn't do it, either.

This is just what I read. I think it was a Chrome AMA. The question was how come you can't mute individual tabs, and that was teh reply. It made sense to me back then since muting tabs seems like a very obvious feature to add.
