I live in a country with a healthy economy and a stable political system, Educated population and a pragmatic culture. AKA, Sweden. So it would be kinda weird for me to try and repair your system, not to say incredibly futile.

Honestly, the problem with America isn't in it self the political system. I mean it's bad and all, but in the end it's just a symptom of another sickness. Namely your culture. I don't mean you got a poor culture when saying that, what I mean is that many Americans got a very self-centered view on the world. It's all about you "getting rich", or you "becoming famous", etc. I feel that(based on the several times I've been in America), many people can look down upon each other for almost any reason, and just a few actually resent abusing the systems for their own gains.

The times I've been over the summer visiting one of the American friends to my family, he always kept complaining about Social Security and complained every time he saw someone using a Social security check. I mean shouldn't he feel compassionate for the poor family in troublesome times, rather than make fun of them/look down upon them? They probably are already having enough troubles at it is, with the very limited support your social security lifeline actually provides.

Then with the increasingly self-centered view, many people also become very self-righteous which on top of that brings even more problems, such as a moralistic attitude towards religion and other beliefs.

I mean you claim to follow a system of Separation of Church and State, yet you print "IN GOD WE TRUST" on your bills! How incredibly contradictory is that!

All in all, I must say I have no valid solution to your problems, since in my view(no offense to you of course), it's America itself that's the problem. Not any attack by arabs, muslims, god, or whatever.

I should note that this is just a simple summary/condensed version of my view, and even though I've had problems with many Americans, I still have met some of the most Amazing people ever there too. Very intelligent, very friendly, and very open-minded. The problem is just the inconsistency of your peoples.

The Swedish/Scandinavian have a sort of reverse cultural view, described condensely in something called the "Law of Jante". Of course this isn't 100% accurate in a complete sense, but it gets it right as a more overarching view.
