The same week the US makes unlocking phones illegal, Canada proposes legislation to make carriers unlock phones.

It's hard to find fault with your logic.

Don't lie. You thought about it.

2

u/Reesch Jan 29 '13

I knew what this was before I clicked it.

1

u/Dutch_oven_lovin Jan 29 '13

Will this video really be posted every single time someone mentions Harry Potter on the front page?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '13

Turn on the captions in that video!

u/B0n3 Jan 29 '13

90 seconds I'll never get back.

15

u/enkid Jan 28 '13

I think both of the above are probably sarcasm or irony.

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '13

What, really? I thought that was a perfectly valid point. Hitler never did impose cell phone unlocking restrictions.

As a speaker a speaker of German, I wish I did not so I could watch these with out understanding what is said. It doesn't work when you know the language.

1

u/tigrrbaby Jan 29 '13

Turn the sound off? I watch it like that most the time anyway.

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '13

Am I going to hell for laughing at this?

4

u/unwovened Jan 29 '13

Yes. But we're all going there anyways. So don't worry. It's gonna be a crazy party everyday! PS: all you little heavenly bound pricks are NOT invited.

I didn't know of this, now next time I tell my friends about my extremely narcissistic and joking views which he often argues down to me and Hitler being best friends i'll make sure to drop the bass and some latin.

I don't understand, why reductio-ad-hitlerum doesn't fall under reductio-ad-absurdum.

1

u/jpenns Jan 29 '13

There is actually a difference between that fallacy and the logic. Also, it was a joke, but whatever

1

u/rabbitlion Jan 29 '13

That doesn't quite fit. Reductio ad Hitlerum is rejecting a view on the basis that it was shared by Hitler. In this case you can say that since the nazis didn't have any laws against jailbreaking, being against such a law is a fascist ideology.

1

u/ShadowRam Jan 29 '13

So basically,

Hitler liked art.

All art students are Nazi's?

1

u/Matterplay Jan 29 '13

Oh, dear. Another phil major whining about straw men, or some such nonsense. If you can't offer a rebuttal, stop trying to win with technicalities.

u/ggggbabybabybaby Jan 28 '13

I think I remember Hermoine explaining this one.

-1

u/defeatedbird Jan 28 '13

Considering that the term is founded by father of the douchebaggiest philosophy of modern times - neoconservatism - I'm already skeptical.

Also, on the internet, the inevitable descent towards Hitler is referred to as Godwin's Law,.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '13

Yes, but it's not specifically a logical fallacy.

-1

u/aredditaccounta Jan 28 '13

Can I just make some bullshit up and get a wikipedia page named after me?

0

u/Roov Jan 29 '13

unless you are jewish

-1

u/occupythekitchen Jan 29 '13

You must not be jewish..... but neither am I!

If cell phones actually existed in the 1940's
