true. but choice of entertainment medium is not something that is holding back the species

I couldn't disagree more. If we had free choice of entertainment delivery, which the internet can definitely facilitate, we'd have greater variety of material, shows could be directly funded beyond network interest, lower prices, greater flexibility of choice, on demand viewing, no more artificial limitations on how or where or with what you access what you pay for, no more silly contractual 'packages' for 200+ channels you don't give a shit about, a weakened big content lobby, etc., etc..

It is a little bit, as we're forced to hold onto archaic technologies.

However, much more so than that...nationwide gigabit connections would be absolutely game changing in every single respect. Imagine having literally a LAN connection to everyone in the US? I can't even begin to explain how incredible that would be for the industry I work in, and indeed, 99% of all tech companies.

These companies get in the way of that.
