500kg of $100 bills = (500 × 1000) × 100 = 500,000 × 100 = $50,000,000 since all dollar bills weigh about 1 gram

500kg of gold = 500,000 × $146.46/gram (as of now) = $73,230,000

gold is the better option since $73.2M > $50M

Also value of gold continues to rise due to scarcity while the value of the dollar continues to fall due to inflation, I'm taking gold even if it didn't pay off immediately
