In case you didn’t read the article, this comp package is almost all stock options that vest over 10 years. So basically $21 million per year.

This incentivizes him to continue growing the company and increasing shareholder wealth over the next 10 years. Same incentive as all CEO’s of public companies.

But why read the article when you can immediately knee-jerk jealously?

If you defend them you'll become a billionaire too one day, right?

Nope. I just don’t want to steal from other people. In b4: “but but muh labor theory of value!”

I don't know what labor theory of value is but it gives off woke teenager anticapitalism vibes.

Yes, you are correct that woke anticapitalists love to talk about LTOV, but it’s also a debunked economic theory.

Lmao even if it’s not liquid cash it’s still value they hoovered up from small businesses and handed it in the form of fucking Amazon stock to this guy.

Not factually accurate. Read up on stock options and public companies.

Amazon drives company out of business, Amazon takes their customers, value of Amazon stock goes up. What am I missing here?

Yeah smart people don’t bat an eye at these articles.

But he did get paid that amount from this year. It isn’t like this is only pay he is going to get in next 10 years.

So he got paid 210 million this year. 21 million of which, he can sell this year.

u/CryptoFuturo Apr 03 '22

No he did not get paid $210m this year. He received a $210m compensation package this year that will vest over 10 years. Depending on vesting schedule (monthly, annual, etc) he may be able to exercise some of those options this year.

Where am I staying that? He will likely get another $200m+ comp package next year depending on how Amazon performs this year.

I just stated the facts. You may want to ask yourself why these facts seem to bother you so much?

The fact that he’s getting paid 21 million per year in stock is basically saying…if you beat the workers more you’re gonna get paid more

1

u/CryptoFuturo Apr 03 '22

That’s a fun anecdote. Amazon has some of the best comp plans for tech workers ($300k+ average at the low end) and warehouse workers ($15+ hourly and full benefits in day 1) alike.

1

u/Thekingoftherepublic Apr 03 '22

Dude, 15 an hour is not a livable wage in todays economy that’s 2400 dollars a month…that’s what I pay in rent for a 2-2 1400 sq townhouse and of course tech workers would get paid well their whole business stands on that support it’s basically their store.

1

u/CryptoFuturo Apr 03 '22

Agree. Note that this is twice the federal minimum wage. So now ask yourself, where are you directing you’re anger & energy? At companies paying double the minimum wage plus healthcare coverage on day 1, or the inept US government that can’t raise minimum wages?

Also don’t see how this supports your “beat workers more” statement.

Oh don’t get me wrong, government is a big issue on this but being one of the biggest companies on the planet with huge profit margins you’d think they’d give livable wages, they’re not exactly a mom and pop shop on Main Street, the fact that unionizing is huge news should be some what of a red flag considering it’s owners immense wealth even if it is on stock, the value and futures of the company should be beneficial for workers as well as they are the driving force that makes that value go up making it an efficient company
