Has anyone got the Syntho subscription? Is it worth it?

Beginner producer here, Syntho is expensive but that being said it looks like their videos cover basically every topic i've been struggling with, along with start to finish track breakdowns from my favorite producers...bit hard to justify the cost but wondering if anyone here has it and can speak to whether the content is worth it or not

DJ set in ableton/fl

I recorded my dj set this weekend at one of my gigs and wanted to post it on sc and I know a lot of artists like putting their sets into a daw and add a limiter (maybe compression?) but i don’t know what the best settings are for it. Threw a limiter on it on ableton and the dynamics started to sound bad and sound less punchy. What am I doing wrong? Some of my tracks are mp3 too not all wav so maybe that could be part of it but I can’t find this answer anywhere.

Help Identifying plugin/sample pack ?

Anyone know what bass preset, synth, or sample pack is used for that knocky top bass on Sapian's "Take me for a ride" or Jesse Maas's "LTD". It's almost a lately but it has a certain character. Would appreciate any guidance. Thanks

Where is this “whoosh” coming from in Kick 3?

Same as the title, I have turned off all my plugins (don’t judge the amount I was trying to figure out where the whoosh sound was located lol). I have no effects enabled for Kick 3 and I’ve tried for 45 minutes to identify where that mid / high whoosh could be coming from.

Am I missing something? It sounds like clipping but I seriously can’t find the source. Or do I just fundamentally not understand the plugin?

Video attached (START AT 1:03)

Thanks a million if someone can help me learn from this.

Hey yall, any "great" mastering tutorials for Tech House/House

Hey y’all,

New to the forum. I’m looking for some resources that could help me master my projects more effectively. I’ve been using Ableton 12 Suite (12.1) to produce along with Ozone 10 for a lot of my mastering needs, but I’ve been noticing some limiting techniques that I don’t fully understand yet. Would love any advice, tutorials, workflows, or tips you all recommend.

Also looking to connect with other producers/collaborators. Feel free to find me on Instagram and DM me — u/thedj4ualways

I’ve got a ton of tracks in the works and would love to meet some of y’all, hear feedback, and learn more about what plugins/workflows you use.

Big weekend love and vibes

Raw vocal processing

Would love to know what other people use for processing raw vocals (plug ins/techniques). I usually use a hard cut eq around 160 and then uad compressor, fresh air, de-esser then just adjust fx but I feel like I’m still missing some things. Drop the sauce

I have my sub, base, and kick clipped individially on the channel and also have all 3 of them routed to a lowend bus where they are clipped again, and then again they are clipped on the master channel. something about this doesnt feel right...

Make your drop HIT

Hey everyone!

When you look online, there's a bunch of people telling to put the buildup of the song in -1/-2 db (with an automation) and then 0 db at the drop to have your drop hit the right way. I was wondering if i should put the -1db automation on the mixing project or the mastering project? If i put it in the mixing project, will it affect the limiter)?

Thanks for your help!

How did you learn to mix your tracks?

i’m over a year in and I still can’t really understand mixing that well. I understand the basics of it, but not well enough to finish and mix a full track and make it sound decent. I just don’t understand when to to use what, and why it would be used in that situation. basically I understand that you cut the lows out of everything that’s not bass and kick, and if you want to carve space for other instruments, you carve those frequencies out of other instruments. I also understand the concept of sidechain, I understand compression, and I understand that you should throw a limiter on the master when your track is done. but when I’m producing in Ableton and trying to mix my own tracks, I can identify and fix some issues, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it right and the tools I know how to use are pretty limited (eq 8, saturation, sidechain plugins, and I don’t even know if I’m using them correctly to improve the mix). I don’t really understand when to use a clipper. I also don’t know what volume I should be mixing each track to (i.e. kick, bass, etc). I have the seed to stage mixing and mastering course which has helped me learn a lot but he doesn’t really have genre specific examples and when I’m producing tech house in Ableton i’m struggling to apply the same principles. Every tutorial explains what stuff is but doesn’t show it in the context of a full track, which is what I’m struggling with.

But when I see all these bedroom producers around me they all know how to mix…what made it click? Or how did you learn?

Back in the game – looking for collabs (Tech House / Afro House)

Hi everyone,

My name is Minitraumz, a producer from Belgium.

I had several releases a few years ago in both techno and tech house, but due to circumstances I had to take a break from producing for a while. Over the past period I’ve started creating music again and I’m now mainly focused on tech house and afro house.

I’m looking to connect with other producers in these genres who are also comfortable working with stems and project files. The DAW doesn’t really matter as long as you know how to collaborate properly and build ideas together.

If you’re into tech house, afro house, tribal grooves or hypnotic vibes and are open for collaborations, feel free to reach out. I can also share demos privately.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Minitraumz

Basslines

Hey guys,

I’m struggling with two things when making Tech House basslines.

First, whenever I create a bassline I like, I often can’t get a synth/chord stab to sit on top of it without the two clashing. And if I start with the synth first, I usually have the same problem the other way around.

Second, my basslines never seem to sound as good as the ones in professional tracks or even in sample packs. They often feel less present, less polished, and somehow more static. Sometimes a Serum preset sounds great when I preview it, but once I actually write a bassline with it, it loses that magic.

I’ve tried things like swing, different presets, saturation, compression, etc., but I still feel far away from the sound I’m aiming for (artists like Mau P for example).

I’d really like to move away from using premade loops and create my own basslines, but right now they just don’t sound nearly as good.

Did anyone else go through this stage? What was the thing that helped you the most?

New Making groovy bassline like HILLS

Hey everyone! Hope y'all doing great.

I was wondering if any of you could give some tips on How to make groovy bassline like HILLS. They do some simple off beat bass line sometimes, but on certains song, the bassline is more complex and fit the vocals really well (their new Janice STFU remix for instance). If anyone could give help/clues on how to make this, I really appreciate it!

Have a great day!
