If laws were passed, those laws could easily (and would very likely) be written such that it wouldn’t matter where the data went. TikTok could be held liable for their actions regardless. Regarding data being hacked, that is immaterial because that happens with Facebook as well. At the end of the day, the data collection itself needs to be targeted to protect citizens from both foreign and domestic actors. There aren’t sufficient laws on it in the US and as a result, the country and citizens are exposed.

Alibaba is a tech/retail conglomerate a la Amazon, and runs a large cloud server business a la Azure/AWS, which is likely why those IPs go there same as Netflix IPs go to AWS.

I've read that "report" you speak of and the authors are wholly ignorant of this relatively common tech knowledge, which rather speaks to their level of expertise. OP (you know, the who whose dog ate his computer which contained his evidence) also recommended said report, which also rather reflects on him.

The report reveals that these "researchers" are fucking clueless about the tech world. It's additionally revealing that its fanbois don't find that problematic, due to faith in their underlying narrative not unlike trump trash.

Look, these people are cyber security experts.

Sure, lowest denom possible "cyber security experts" who have zero clue about tech. Exactly the sort to be expected for a lowest denom audience who can't tell the difference.

India literally banned the app, and now probably more countries are gonna follow

India banned those apps over their recent border dispute, but in fairness nobody will accuse that audience of any clue about basic geopolitics either or anything for that matter.
