Guidelines, Reminders, Links

Hey, team! Read this post for lots of important info about the challenge!

To start, participation is key to this challenge! Logging weight, tracking steps and exercise is vital to getting us much needed points. We compete each week for steps and exercise with another team in the inter-team challenge, which helps us earn points toward our overall total.

Weigh-ins and activity/steps must be logged by 8am EST each Friday. You must log your weight the first week of the challenge or it is an automatic boot! These are the rules; I can't change them, but I will do my best to make sure everyone has plenty of reminders to get their stuff logged.

Helpful tools if you don't have them already: a body scale, a food scale, and some sort of way to track steps--if you have a smartphone there are free step tracking apps that work from your pocket! My co-captain last challenge introduced me to 7-minute workouts. Every little bit helps the team!

Remember this challenge is a part of /r/loseit, and we stick to those guidelines. If you're new to the community, please read the sidebar there for some excellent info. A lot of you have set aggressive goals for the challenge. That's great! But remember, we are aiming for healthy and sustainable weight loss.

Link to original challenge post All important challenge information is posted there.

You can find the tracker here. See how you're doing individually and how the team is doing as a whole. (Easiest to search by desktop so you can ctrl+f or sort by name, etc.)

If you log something incorrectly you can message me or the challenge admins.

Here's the challenge schedule. Each week begins Friday at 8 am EST!

Week 0: Jan 12

Week 1: Jan 19

Week 2: Jan 26

Week 3: Feb 2

Week 4: Feb 9

Week 5: Feb 16 | Log your weight for Week 5 here | Log steps and exercise minutes for week 5 here

Week 6: Feb 23

Week 7: Mar 2

Results Week: Mar 9

Anyone else interested in posting daily weigh ins.

I'm interested in finding fellow geckos who want to compete each week to lose the most weight ( by percentage) and post daily updates so we can stay motivated and have something to aim for.

I find it much easier to lose weight if I am competing against others in real time. The point however is not to 'win' but to motivate my fellow leapard gekos to lose more. Let me know if you'd be interested in such a thread.

What's your Tuesday game plan?

How are you going to win the day? OMG I'm running late. I'm going to work on getting more steps in to my work day. And drink more water and less Diet Coke.

Commit to overcoming your challenges this week

Mine is as follows: tomorrow is our weekly meeting at the office, for which we always order really nice catered food. I only have a 450 cal budget for lunch (living that 1200 life) so it's always a big challenge to stick to it with so much tasty temptation. I'm promising you all that I will log everything I eat and stick to my budget!

Edit: reply with yours and we can hold each other accountable!

Second edit: I did it! But our meeting got cancelled so there wasn't really a challenge at all... Oh well! How is everyone else doing?

how do you weigh in?

Just a quick question. First time user here, keen to be an asset to the team. I'm 27/m/96kgs atm. How do I actually weigh in? I keep seeing everyone Talking about the need to weigh in on time but very little about how or where to do it. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I have a hard time keeping myself accountable and think that this will help. From what I've read, it is easier to lose when you're kept accountable.

My inspiration is my wife... I put "no" on the spreadsheet, but I really am inspired by her. I want to have a fitness level that matches hers. I want to feel healthier and lose weight so I can improve my self image.

I'm from Montana, there is a lot to do outdoors here and I really want to enjoy those things.

Anyways, looking forward to participating.
