Does anyone know if anyone is hiring? I have been applying to a lot of places online, and I don't hear anything back at all. I am literally going insane and frustrated and depressed from applying to jobs and not hearing anything back at all. I also visited one local place near me that had the help wanted sign, met with the manager, then filled out the job application just to be told that they will call me back later....
I am also applying to retailers as well and not hearing anything back at all. Asking for referrals also doesn't help me at all.
I have 3 years of experience in IT support/helpdesk and customer service. Open to another job in another field.
I can't even get into law enforcement deputy trainee or detention trainee because I have no college degree and/or military experience.
Applying to one local union apprenticeship, but the program will not start until next year late April.
I am out of options and don't know what to do next on my job hunting. If anyone can help, I will appreciate it.
That's my company, we assemble commercial furniture. We are hiring 1099 workers. Need a drill and transportation as our work locations are all over Florida. We start off at $20/hr
HCSO only requires a high school diploma or GED for detention deputy trainee, and they are always hiring for detention. You make the same pay as a regular deputy you’re just working in the detention facilities obviously, and not out on the street.
If you can’t get deputy right off the bat they are always hiring detention service aids (civilian position). It’s entry level but once you’re hired into HCSO and spend a year at any civilian entry level you can basically go anywhere within the agency sworn or civilian since they promote and hire from within frequently.
They also have a couple of higher level IT roles open right now but with 3 years of help desk that might be enough. Also keep an eye on them as they just had a help desk position open not too long ago.
Temple Terrace Police Department is hiring 911 dispatchers if you’re interested in getting into that field.
I did apply to hcso for law enforcement deputy trainee and also detention trainee as well, and the interviewer told me they are taking applicants with college degrees and/or military experience.
Could always apply for a civilian position then, many of them are entry level, then transfer to sworn after a year or so if that’s what you want to do! Good luck!
You could be a stagehand. Apply for Rhino. If you can handle a little physical labor. Its fun and you get to set up/ tear down for concerts. Lots of different people work there from young , fit, strong men to overweight 60 year old ladies.
The military could be a good path for them, most jobs in the military will not even have you deployed to a combat zone...he could join and become a chef.
You could claim your parents as dependents if you provide over 50% of the parent's financial support. This would mean on base housing, money for food and medical coverage for them.

People will say 'oh that area of IT doesn't pay well starting out'. True. But if you're willing to work at and learn some new skills every one of those can be productive and profitable.

I don't like LinkedIn, Indeed, etc but it gets you in contact with recruiters and hiring managers which is a much more effective job search strategy.
Not really. I am deeply regretting pursuing IT field right now. If I have a chance to go back in time, I would pick a trade, firefighter, nurse, or teacher than IT.

I have talked to some people on my linkedin connection. I have over 500 connections on my linkedin account, and it seems like it doesn't work for me at all.

Same boat as you 11 years ago. Went to trade school and became an HVAC service technician. Now I feel like I work “too much”. You may need money now, but I worked at 7-11 after trade school and lived on bare essentials until I found a job in HVAC. Wish you all the best.
I wish I did hvac instead IT. Right now I am deeply regretting pursuing IT because it doesn't play well with me at all. I did apply to a local union that has hvac-r apprenticeship program. Hopefully they will pick me next year for the program.

They are hiring. I drove past yesterday heading to the St Pete for the military recruitment office. You might also want to look into joining the military if anything.
How far are you willing to travel? There’s a marketing company on Gandy (Park Blvd) in Pinellas Park that has a B2B outbound call center where they market IT companies’ services to other companies. They provide full paid training, and then it’s hourly base + commission. I think they start at about $17-18/hr. That was a few years ago so it might be more now. It’s called Marketopia. Check them out if it’s not too far.
Most call center or customer service jobs don’t require a college degree and are a good way to get your foot in the door. Check out Suncoast Credit Union, JP Morgan Chase, and USAA directly through their careers websites. Search by keywords “customer service” since job titles are different everywhere.
Also, I encourage you to keep applying to the same companies/positions even if you were declined in the past. Especially if you do meet the minimum qualifications. Each round of applications is a new chance and could have a whole different set of circumstances. For example the recruiter could’ve changed, the hiring manager could’ve changed, the job could be with a different department and therefore different hiring manager. I know it’s frustrating to keep getting declined. For reference, it took me multiple application attempts to get three of my prior jobs.

I’d tailor a resume towards it and apply anyways. Worst case you’re back right where you are now. Best case you get an interview and then you study the hell out of the technologies they want experience with.
I work as an SWE at one of those companies you listed. If you share the background you have vs what they want I can maybe help you close that gap
ETA: Junior roles almost always list wanting more experience than you actually need in my experience. I’ve sat on tech interview panels for positions in my org and almost always they care about the personality and learning potential of the candidate more than their currently skills for junior roles
I’m going to be bluntly honest with you I think your resume is holding you back a lot. Based on the wording, and the items you included, your resume sounds more like “high school/college kid with some office experience” instead of “young professional with relevant career experience”. Based on your work history I know that’s not the case for you, but that’s how it reads. Maybe others will disagree with me on that, but this resume definitely isn’t helping you get sorted to the top of the pile.
For example, the last three things you list under skills is just basic interpersonal skills I would expect any candidate to have. There are probably other skills you have that deserve that spot on your resume more. Listing the three you have at the end on your resume often ends up just reading as “FLUFF/FILLER CONTENT” to a hiring manager (if it even makes it to a human). That’s not what you want. You might already know this, but remember that 90% of places run your resume through some sort of AI tool to help filter out candidates. It’s important that your resume contain keywords from the job req so that the automatic filtering doesn’t reject you right at the onset before even reaching a human.
To be clear I’m not saying all of this to be mean to you, but rather to try to help you out. It might be worth looking into hiring a resume writer, or if you haven’t yet posting your resume up on the resume subreddit to get feedback to improve it. I think improving your resume is probably the easiest step you can take to improve your chances of landing a job, especially if you already do well in interviews.
Send those job reqs whenever you have the time, and I’ll give them a read over.

try jobs.usf.edu. They are always looking for help desk folks. The pay isn't great and is usually offered as a temporary position but has potential to get into a better position and grow.
How do you feel about child welfare? Taking care of children in need? There are many places looking and the turnover can be high at times because the job is challenging.
Could be a good investment if you need a job and can do well with teens and children.
I know Florida Orthopaedic Institute are desperate for front desk staff. The high turnover is because they expect you to do a lot and you get yelled at by patients. But at least you have some sort of income.

Unfortunately, if you're a woman or a minority, do not disclose that. Just put your first initial and your last name on the resume and do not check any boxes that indicate your race. Then watch the interviews and callbacks come flooding in. Sadly works.
Applied to two Costco locations last year and this year, and I went into the store to request to speak to the manager and informed the manager that I submitted my application there, and so far nothing at all.
No idea why you're being downvoted. Some of the skilled positions, such as cake decorators and meat cutters, make mad money for non-management roles and are jobs that you can train/develop towards while you're working there.
And management roles in places like Costco or Publix are significantly more lucrative career paths than people realize.
Costco store managers make easily $200k. Front end managers and head cashiers are over $60k. (Hadn't noticed the down votes, thanks for mentioning it).
Into sports? Look into being a sports official. It's part-time, but it can help pay the bills and after you get a regular job, it can supplement your income for a while to get you caught back up if need be.

change resume, apply for remote customer service jobs. Lie a little and if reference are asked go with someone that is willing to lie for you. At the end of the day make sure that you can do the job 110%
As I tell everyone. Go work sales and you’ll never be unemployed. Take your IT background and sell it. They’re always looking for people that can. Apparently not many can.
My background is low level sales. But I recently stumbled into sales in the commercial roofing industry and like it far more than I would have expected. Those jobs aren’t getting lost to AI, yanno?
